    Overlanding "Fulltime"???

The trailer is a big advantage in that respect. It also helps to save your spot while you explore.

    Differential lockers

I have the Eaton e-locker up front. I'm not an expert, by any stretch, but I like it. Tim @ Timberline Vans, who did my conversion, told me he prefers the locker because he's concerned about the airline on the air lockers being disconnected.

    Digital inclinometer

I had one in my FJ. I think the seat of my pants is more accurate and also has an alarm. :tearsofjoy:

    Camp saw.

I also have a Svensaw and like it - good quality and easy to use.

    Camp saw.

You have to use a foldable handsaw or it isn't overlanding!! :tearsofjoy: Actually, I plan on buying an electric chainsaw before I start on the TAT. I was looking at the DeWalt, but I'll check out the Makita, too.

A small piece of kit that gives huge piece of mind

Good info. Thanks Dan! I may never tear a stem off, but someone in my group who does will be glad I have it in my repair kit.

What are some options for good gas mileage in overlanding vehicles?

Respectfully, for many, it's not about spending money here or spending money there. This is their "all in" hobby and, other than equipment, which can be scrimped on, the number one cost is fuel. I count myself fortunate that I live close enough to the Ozark Mountains that I can do a nice trip on...

Does any company make a TRUE satellite based AM FM Stereo/GPS system (not cell tower based satellite but actual SATELLITE based)?

I didn't read all the comments, so forgive me if I repeat. Kenwood uses the Garmin gps system.

    Oregon Trail Expedition

I've been looking for gpx files for the Oregon Trail in order to follow it, driving on it where possible on public lands. The NPS had a link for a file, I downloaded the file, but when I tried to upload it into my Gaia database, Gaia said the file had no content. Does anyone have a source for...

    Efficient Hot Shower System

I have the Geyser system (w/o the internal water heater). I bought it for it's size, efficiency and simplicity. Now, I have not had an opportunity to use it, but expect good things.

    Sedona/ Grand Canyon

Helpful information here, thanks! We were planning on camping along the north rim on Kaibab NF land during the end of March or early April. It looks like there are several nice campsites. I appreciate there could be snow in late March/early April, but as I look at weather history, it shows March...

Let's see those full size rigs - Trucks & SUV

1998 E250 Sportsmobile, Aluminess front/rear bumper with tire carrier and deluxe box, and Warn 12,000lbs winch. This picture was taken at our first campsite on Geneva Creek Road, Pike NF, after having the van lifted and 4wd installed by Timberline vans in Golden, Colorado. Technically, it's now...

How much does the look affect your choice?

I attended an Overlanding Academy presentation at Rendezvous in the Ozarks 2021. I don't recall the name of the gentleman who gave the presentation, but he is very knowledgable on this topic. He put together a decision hierarchy for the DOD on making purchases. I thought it was fascination and...

    Wyoming trip

All good suggestions, so far. I might add 1) the Shoshone National Forest east of the Wind River Range. I'm not sure the snow will be melted by then. 2) I second Gros Ventre campground. It's sits next to the River of the same name and a pretty good Moose spotting opportunity. 3) Get on your Gaia...
