I have a EFHW portable. I was talking more about truly mobile. Bi have never found the 80M ham stick to tune up very well. The 80M rig is more for camping when there is more time to play with a set up.... relax with a cold drink.... play on the radio. Sounds like I need to go camping.

I'd be up for doing something on a weekend when we can go mountain toping with the mobile HF Rig. 75m is a hard one to do as a mobile, but 40M and 20M would work. Just a limited signal footprint unless the conditions are right.
I can't tell you anything about the boarder crossing. There are lifted trucks all over the Western United States. If you are driving responsible and not drawing attention to yourself, I don't see why you would have any issues.
Oh yeah. If you have the time and means take the train from Durango to Silverton. You'll get to see country you really can't access any other way other than hard-core hiking. We even saw a bear.
Got to spend the day exploring off the beaten path up on the Chief Joseph Hiway. Traversed Bald Ridge at the top of the pass.
Going into the Park tomorrow (Yellowstone). Not too many off reading options there, but the geyser basin is a must see for the 10 year old.
It was cold and rainy. The snow melt is still on in the hills above, so the rivers are pretty swollen, and all the little waterfalls are going. Being from the desert, that was all a real treat.
Off roading wise I feel like it is pretty ready. Still a few things I want to do.
After years in SUV type of vehicles the storage is a little different. Easier but more exposed.
Easiest thing would be to go with a camper shell but don't care for the "old man" look. I add that on my own...
Not sure what you are saying? So is the Chevy Colorado good for Boondcking?
Guess it would come down to what you consider a reasonable level of comfort.
Boondcking is more of a long term camping thing than Overlanding. That is if I am getting the definitions right?
I guess I'll be...
I'm selling my 2006 HUMMER H3.Ready for Adventure. This is an iconic off-roader and not too many of them were produced. We often get approving nods and compliments at the gas station. Lost of work done in the last 18 Months and running great! I have most of the receipts for the work I have done...
I have been using Backcountry Navigator for years and have dabbled with Gaia. I recently got a new vehicle that has Android Auto. I was very excited to discover that Gaia works great with Android Auto. Total game changes.
I'll still hang on to the Backcountry Navigator set up for APRS...
I just got a Chevy Colorado ZR2. It came with a funnel that the dealer told me was for fueling made for this purpose. It was in my glove box so if there's something like that there that's what it's for. If not you should go back to the dealer and ask them about it.
