After a BIG trip from The NT to Tasmania, we decided that having a RTT on the vehicle was more of a pain than we needed.
So I bought an old Army trailer (No 5). And set about modifying it.
Very nice, this is on my list of places to explore. I have done some but that was over 10 years ago...
Early December we are heading to Alexander Bay for a relaxing beach camp and fish.
The best thing about building it yourself, is that you know how it goes together and if you need to modify/improve anything you can quite easily with out destroying it.
Even with this build I had an idea in my head and 'most' worked out, those that didn't I modified so that they did. Its these...
Historically, "overlanding" is an Australian term to denote the droving of livestock over very long distances to open up new country or to take livestock to market far from grazing grounds. Between 1906 and 1910 Alfred Canning opened up the Canning Stock Route.
Ok back into it.
Built the rear door. And thinking about it I wanted it to be sealed but also removable. Simple butt hinges made this possible. It is removable and can be used as a table.
The 'over the centre' latches were not working as I would have liked. So I changed them out for T Handles.
Perfect fit again (NO MEASURING) must be luck.
