    Advice, opinions?

It’s factory tow which gives it a 4500 lb rating. It’s also a 6 cylinder.

    Advice, opinions?

We have a 17' Latitude, and it's a great vehicle. Haven't done too much OR in it, but have taken it on a few trails and fire roads. One section of trail I would consider "moderate" and it did it just fine in stock mode, with stock highway tires. lol It was one of those, "let's go here" decisions...

How big is big enough? - Tire sizes

My suspension is getting a bit long in the tooth too. They're squeaky, i think I get that lean, i really just bounce around on washboards, etc. That said, I might also be getting a new truck within the next year. I think I'm ready for just something new.

What kinda material for campfire and stove?

Sounds to me like you have perfect set. I only take a 12” cast iron skillet, but looking to add a Dutch oven to the mix - been watching a lot of campfire baking shows. Lol Plus one of the best desserts I’ve ever had around a campfire, was a berry cobbler made in a Dutch oven using the fire for...

How big is big enough? - Tire sizes

I know the answer is "depends", and there are a lot of factors in deciding how big to go. Looking at rigs online, seems like a lot of folks like to run 35s, 37s and even 40s, which often requires adding a lift and re-hearing, etc. But then you look at other vehicles where going up to a 31 or 33s...

    Camp Tents

I've been using a North Face 2-person (or 1 largish person) back-packing tent. Was great 15-20+ years ago when I backpacked, but as I've gotten a bit older with back issues, I've been looking at something I can walk into and stand up in. I'm looking at the HubT3 since it looks like it will do...

OB Approved 10 Tips For Sleeping Warm In Camp

Great tips! what are your thoughts on semi-rectangular bags? I was never a fan of the "mummy" feel, but I usually do wear a hat. I'm about to pick one up. I also remember reading years ago when I backpacked about putting a water bottle at the foot of the bag. I found it really helped regulate my...

Sounds good. Let me know if I can help scout out a place. the parking lot on the north end of town where the K-mart used to be before the fires has a big, mostly empty parking lot.

Cancelled Reoccurring - Monthly Bay Area Rigs and Coffee - 02/09/2019

New to the group, but I can't make it this weekend as I have a previous engagement. That said, does this ever move around to different locations? Pleasanton is not particularly close to the North Bay, etc.

In search of: The Best Ground Tents

Great thread. Those are some pretty sweet set-ups. Currently looking at tents because my NorthFace backpacking tent, although a great tent, is not as “fun” crawling on the ground to get into, as it was when I was in my twenties. I want something I can stand in, get dressed in without having to...

    New here from NorCal.

Just signed up today for membership and the forums. I currently have a '98 Tacoma 4x4 that I've had since almost new. No mods, but I have done a few off-roading trips here and there. Nothing too crazy or remote because I am usually alone and don't want to get stuck. Always wanted to do more...
