Wheeling Ouachita National Forest

When you realize you need a different rig, or some serious mods.

The Forest service vehicle multi use maps (MVUM) show what trails/roads are open. You can get them at visitor centers, online, or on Gaia.

Did you add airbags or stiffer suspension to handle the weight of the camper?

So far I have been using the premium maps on Gaia which seem to have lots of good info. The National Forest Service websites for the specific areas also have downloadable maps.

Any advice on must see places in the Ouachitas?

Just checking if this thread is still active. New to the Little Rock area and interested in getting ideas on fun trails.

Some spots are, but higher elevations with good drainage are fairly dry.

Thanks for the great write up. The opening sides are also something that interests me about the GFC. It sounds like any water intrusion is negligible. How much acrobatics does it take to get in with the raised DECKED system (also something I was thinking about adding)?

I am really interested in the GFC. Does anyone have real world experience with how the side seals hold up to water and dust off road? Also, how does it work to close the back while you are in it? Does it latch, and if so is it easy to open? How is the heat retention in cold environments...
