IMO it depends what unit is to be used for navi....
For smartphone - Gaia is giving the most - specialy if we consider what offline maps may be loaded on top.... Also the track is remembered wven if I'm off GSM and apps are off too!!! So the battery cons is very low.
For notebook - I use...
Can't see any problem to go with 4X4 Sprinter anywhere.... Eccept hight - as far as heavy trucks manage - Sprinter with transfer case and diff-locks will as well ;-)
All depends what You need the winch for... I believe Your blazer is a kind of overlanding in purpose, isn't it? ;-)
If so You need just few fellows in the back pushing You further. Means You need a winch in the front, working simultaneously with engine and being equall to those guys pushing You...
hi, mates.
I've made just few days ago 2600 km aroud Poland. Was great!!! Here two pics from Kazimierz Dolny (PL)
Hope You can visit this place once...
I'll take closer look how the chasis of Suburban is constructed - the hopefuly will recomend sth for You....
Here is how I've done 100 litres water storage in my rig.
Advantage is - low gravity point and eficiency in interior planning
I don't give a ... for knives as they are for cutting bread those days. Any how I carry real machete and must hide it deep enough as it's illegal in some european states. What a hypocrites f..rs!!!! Often she is more eficient then axe, but axe You may carry - no problem
>Koopdaddy< Exactly what i also recommend - take as much water as you can but still carry filter (KATADYN f.in.) and be prepare to use it. Still Suburban is a piece of metal.... have U considered water storage on-board? I mean as low as possible - maybe between shaft and frame....?
Looks like I wouldn't change anything even having "no-limit" budget ;-)
I've already designed my dream overland vehicle basing on my old budy - Nissan Patrol Y60 High-roof
My favorite mod was Westafalia-like RTT integrated with my High-roof Nissan Patrol Y60. Can't believe how much time I've wasted before setting bed with previous "triange" style RTT.....
Exactly how U should do - plastic can - fastened to the roof rack - big enough to put Your clothes in every day and some water with soap. Everyday evening you just rinse with clear water and loundry does on ;-)
I use this one installed on-board for a year and must admit that is great solution quality/price/efectiveness. Additionally I use air-store comparement to flat the pressure and being safe while el issue
