On my way to the rally, I plan to run the first 3 sections of the Backcountry Discovery Route (BDR) starting Monday morning (June 15th) if anybody is interested. We'll start in Stevenson, Washington near the Bridge of the Gods. Check out the Rally Point details here...
Looking for some folks who want to meet up for various events including Washington BDR which isnt far from here. Also doing a bunch of truck camping out of the Tundra as a base for various NW hikes.

I have a 2016 Toyota Tundra that I will be using for overland. I am looking for a good shop to install skid plates and Bilstein shocks with a 2 inch lift. Any recommendations?
Welcome to the community. I did some SAR for a while up in Snohomish County. Really enjoyed it. Would love to hear about your experience in Clark County.
Just bought in the last 24 hours:
Maxtrax recovery device from Dayspring Trailers in Gresham, OR for $299.
And a Yaesu FT-60R from Gigaparts for $155.
Next up is skid plate for the Tundra and an AGM battery for my accessories.

In my research to find a handheld, it seems the Yaesu FT-60R strikes a good balance on quality and price and capabilities. Also highly rated on Amazon and eham:

I read that some overland group had standardized the suggested gear radio with the Yaesu FT-60R as the right balance between price, capability, and quality. You can get them at gigaparts for $160.
I also found this ratings list and noted that the FT-60R had the most ratings and was among the...
My very first offroad experience was when I was 16 in my 1963 completely stock VW Bug. My buddy had a Willys and we would go to the gravel pits in Kirkland and challenge ourselves to climb the hills. That VW did pretty well!
