I too have a CVT and had to rig up something. For me, I am lucky enough to have a large oak tree by the driveway so I throw over a rope and tie it off. Then I take a cheap block and tackle rig to that down to the tent underneath that has been cradled in some ratchet straps. It isn’t perfect, but...
So I currently use both types of tent. I have around seven different styles of ground tents and one RTT. I choose what I use based on location and expected conditions. If going somewhere with expected high winds, ground tent for me. A night in a RTT and high winds and I feel like I am going to...
Well, I had a Viair 480c installed under the hood of my JKU here in hot Florida and after a day of crawling would thermal trip and give me fits. I later moved it inside the Jeep under my passenger seat and no more issues. I have a Jeep JLU now and after learning my lesson started out with my new...
I just went to CVT in Chattanooga and they had everyone in their stock on their sides in the packaging. Probably over a hundred tents for no telling how long. Don’t really see a reason not too as long as you are careful with the aluminum structure.
I think its easy to get caught up in labels like “overlanding” and what-not. I have access to property in New Mexico and Tennessee that my family and I visit regularly. We like to make a road trip out if it and hit trails when in these places. I have a Jeep with a rack and a rooftop tent. I...
So I had a 2014 JKU built pretty decently, but it was totaled by driver running a light so I have to start all over. My new Jeep is a 2019 JLU Rubicon. Over the last week I added a Gobi rack, ARB front stubby bumper, ARB twin compressor with M.O.R.E mount and a Warn Zeon 10-S platinum winch. I...
I would have liked to go, but unfortunately I just found out about it and live in Tampa, Florida. Not enough time to get the gas money together and plan the time off work. [emoji22]
Thats awesome! Red River gets silly with people until after the 4th. I go almost every year. Love the area though. Never have done Goose Lake in a vehicle, but I hike it every year and camp out overnight. I would love to eventually meet up with some members and do a week of trails in the Jeep...
Hey buddy, I live in Tampa and this is the closest thing to beach camping I know of here. Never camped there myself though. Hope it helps.

I am also a backpacker and as such I tend to use the tents that I use when my wife and I hit the backcountry. Typically a Kelty TN2 or if I am solo a Sixmoon’s Design Scout tent. Both simple and great in the rain. With that said, I will be getting a CVT eventually.
