First the "problem"
So I am on the member map, but i didnt get the badge for it. =(
Second is my suggestion for the site.
Would be really cool to have a way to add members you have met in person and have it show on your profile page. It would be something a little trickey to implement, but i...
So today I met up with @robertv and another member named Brian to do my first "serious" trail Hurricane Creek Trail to Max Patch. Great time guys, thank you!
Just some things to note... A lot of people say you can do this trail easily with a 2wd or an awd subaru. I honestly dont think so...
I mounted mine here (on both sides)... Wish there was an "oversized" version for larger vehicles though.... Looks really small where it is. Still super happy to have joined the family.
Ok, i think im all ready for tomorrow. Was busy today. Trying to get cables through the firewall of a tundra is not all that easy. Looks like the damn thing could sink to the bottom of the ocean and the cab would remain dry.... The seals have seals which are also taped tight. Never saw...
Added my Overland Bound Membership Badge"
Installed a 750 watt power inverter
and a CB radio,
and Made Tethers for My Maxsa Boards
and "mounted" them.
Id wash her too but.... im meeting some members tomorrow to do Hurricane Creek... so she will wait till Sunday for a bath.
Ok, now i have a CB. Picked up a Cobra at wallmart and a magnetic mount. It was cheap and should do ok till i decide on how ill mount a real deal antennae.
@robertv Yea, i guess im kinda like you.... I figure safety first. =) Besides, I dont want to be the jack ass that goes off-roading...
Cool, i think Saturday is my best option. Lets figure out a time and place to meet up. Somewhere in or near Ashville might make the best place to rendezvous. I think we both have to pass through it to get to hurricane creek.
Hurricane Creek Road /Trail Head: (35.7232856,-83.0263746)
Just to ask, is anyone per chance interested in doing Hurricane Creek to Max Patch this weekend? Maybe Saturday if weather permits? I really want to make that a destination and would love some company.
Absolutely, but my time is usually relegated to local weekend day trips as I work during the week and cant leave my wife with the baby for too long (unless she wants to come along with the little one).
@WindyBadger Yea I decided to keep it. Ill look into the licensing soon. Ill pick up a CB also. Would like to find a local seller so if i need anything like attachment brackets (id like to mount the antennae on the toyota bed t-slot rails) they can guide me on that and any other setup...
Well crap. I ordered that Baofang. =(
On the up side, i ordered the Traction Boards as well as a tow strap and some D Rings. I guess Ill return the BaoFang then once it arrives.
So just a regular CB will do huh? Guess Ill look into that now.
