    GPS options?

I found this out after purchasing the app, but worth noting the Gaia pro version is free for outdoor volunteers and first responders including wildland firefighters, search and rescue, ski Patrol, volunteer scientists for the outdoors, etc. Info on their website at the bottom of the page

    Morale Patch Collecting

I just bought my first "morale patch", technically, I got 2, so one for my dogs harness, one to put on my headliner or something

    GPS options?

Yes, you could download the maps to be available offline. However, i would check and see if your iPad has GPS(I'm not familiar with tablets, so I don't know..., if it doesn't have mobile data it might not have gps. But idk.)

    GPS options?

I just downloaded and installed Gaia on my recently retired from active service phone, Galaxy S5 Active, which I guess I will now use as a gps device. Screen is 5.1", not as big as a tablet, but high resolution and easier to use handheld. So far, app is awesome. Intuitive, easy to use, the...

    Overland Safety: First-Aid Kits

I'm an EMR as well, and considering the O's are one of the (few... At least under Denver Metro medical directive) things we can administer, but the great benefit it can have, I was considering a bottle for my rig, but don't really have a place for it. What we were told when I was trained was...

Outer Limit Supply Outback First Aid Kit

Busy got a new first aid kit for my truck, the "Outback" from Outer Limit Supply. It comes in a nice waterproof/airtight hard case, and I got the optional mounting plate /straps, though I don't yet know where I'll mount it. It comes well stocked, meets and exceeds the requirements for a ANSI...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Camping was kinda shitty, we were in an established campground since friends don't have 4wd. It was crowded and I didn't really enjoy. But me, dog and gf at least did some exploring the forest roads around Pike NF on the way there and then again on the way back. Lots of sweet dispersed camping...

    Tire Suggestions

What are your needs and uses? I have 32" Goodyear Duratracs, I think they are a good blend for a daily driver but still offroad capable, and aggressive tread and sidewall. Also winter rated if you live where it snows.

    OB Watches

+1 for the Garmin Fenix 3. I have the new HR model with Sapphire lens. Durable, so many features and functions, battery lasts about a week and a half, and only takes about 2 hrs to charge.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Had a 4x4 trail I was going to hit, but it was closed :( so did some exploring of other dirt roads and did a little flexing

    Jacking it up

What Jacks are you guys using off the trail AND in the garage? I would like to get a HiLift Jack for on the trail /side of the road, but I don't really have any lift points (yet). And Those of you with a Hi Lift, do you use it instead of a floor jack in the garage? After installing the icon...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Not offroad or overland related, but installed a homelink garage opener into my headliner. Got the homelink unit for $10 from a pull n pay. Cutting into the headliner was pretty terrifying though.

    New ride!

Nice, congrats! My coworker just got a 2015 4R SR5, they are good looking rigs! And I'm jealous of the huge range of aftermarket parts availabile to the 4R and taco, compared to my Colorado. I will say I HATE the texture of the headliner in my coworkers 4R though Lol

    Overland build order

I agree with this, except I would say do suspension before tires, if you are planning on going with a larger tire size that might not fit with factory suspension.

Recycling / Filtering your shower water.

Showers are certainly nice, especially depending on the length of your adventure. But for short, 1-2 day trips, baby wipes are a solid option for a quick refresh. I have nothing to add regarding filtering or reusing water though, sorry.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I wish. Designed it all out of NPS2 SCH40 and used 90* or 45* bends where possible to use off the shelf elbows, if I can't find a shop nearby to bend for a good price. The other ones I'll just cut 90* bends to the needed angle. We just got a sweet tube notcher at work though, even punches...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Quiet day at work today, so I was able to work a bit on the design of my bumper. Pretty close to being ready to fabricate if I don't get another wild hair to do another complete 180degree design change

Steel Cable vs Synthetic Rope Winch

    Tell that to Toyota :laughs:

Steel Cable vs Synthetic Rope Winch

Rope vs Cable. It's been discussed everywhere on the Internet, but what are your thoughts on it? Any anecdotal stories to share? I'm new to winching, recently bought my first (yet to install, need to finish designing, and then fabricate, my bumper.) I went with a synthetic winch because they...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Built a new bike mount for the truck this afternoon. Previously had the universal fork mount brackets mounted on the toolbox, but had to remove the toolbox when I installed the softopper. I'm still undecided on what I will replace the toolbox with, but I like this solution for the bikes, at...
