As probably already mentioned I have a feeling its more to do that those who go out as a group are Clubs or Groups. Could be your seeing a JEEP CLUB or Toyota club out wheeling. I personally prefer to be alone honestly.

Love my STIHL 044. This thing is a beast however it is pretty big and I normally won't take it. I do however always carry an Axe. If I do decide to build my DIY Off-Road Trailer I probably will carry the STIHL more often. It just takes up too much space in the back of my Wrangler.

You should be good for most backroads etc. Just play it smart and pay attention to weather etc. My wife has a 2018 4Runner that's 2wd and we've had no issues however we do mainly use our Jeep Wrangler.
