That’s a good idea, rally point said it would be at the island. I vote for that since we have access 6 available if people want to go out there as well.
Not hard pretty much just have to get your measurements right, make sure you give yourself enough room to seam the edges of the tarp. I used gafers tape then sew that part as zippers are limited in length. As for zippers they pretty much tape in to the tarp.

I made a bag for my diy awning from a smaller tarp, jut making sure it was the same length and tarp zippers from come depot. Worked really well and held up for many years.

Which bobinsons awning are you using. I recently bought a dobinsons awning from amazon and seems to be good over all but I do notice some weak points. How has it held up for you?

Thanks .... the next part is to fab and weld some brackets to the base so that I can mount it in place of the factory rails. Next weld a support beam down the middle. I am thinking this could support up to 300lbs. Should be enough to pack light gear.

So I do a lot of camping on the sand and I decided to turn the back of my 4runner into a sleeping platform. , since sleeping in a tent on sand isn’t the most comfortable thing. I am on a budget and like to keep things lean and practical.
