This stands out to me. Ive done quite a bit of offroading with my old AT tires. Lifting it and beefing it up will worsen gas mileage for your everyday driving. Depending on what degree of trails youre going to try and run will change my opinion on suspension/lift and more offroad mods
Beauty rig! The new yotas come with extremely capable traction control which makes it difficult to stop them. If youre looking to get on the trails I would think about some recovery gear and some recovery points.
Why did you add the felt around the edges? Unless I missed a comment somewhere.
Its a great idea and to have the material just press fit into the windows is extremely convenient!
Not a great picture but I slept in my short box bed during a road trip a year ago. I would like to improve my set up but being limited to a 5'6" box and being 5'10" tall forces a diagonal setup LOL. Still working on the concept...
i use a bahco folding saw for cutting, I also use a 1.5lb short hatchet and occasionally a Schrade SCHF3N Knife for around camp. The blade is large so it stays in the back of the truck until I arrive at camp.
I have a single backpacking butane stove similar to the MSR Pocket Rocket if im going fast and light or a double burner Coleman for a basecamp style trip.
Im really glad you made this point, I work in conservation and seeing the devastation of forests because of invasive species is horrifying.
I do the same as for carrying it, its usually my last pick up before getting the camp so it goes on top of one of the storage totes in the bed of the truck.
Here in Canada we have similar rules for everyday carries blade length restriction and mode of deployment etc...
I commonly carry a small hatchet in the truck as well as a small folding knife or multi tool for normal use. Always out of sight and out of reach.
Just uninstalled a 1.5 gallon tank with a vlair compressor installed on top. Im moving to a smaller more compact set up. I dont find myself needing as robust of a set up but im sure now that its gone ill need it sooner rather than later....
A picture of the old set up
I have a few filtration/purification strategies.
1. Sawyer squeeze with 500ml 1 L and 2L soft bottles
2. Aquatabs (small purification tablets good for large quantities at a time)
Gravity based systems are definitely tempting for base camp set ups as they work fast and without constant...
fantastic excerpt from your manual. Ive been looking for a good soft shackle/kinetic pull line as well for recovery. Reducing the small chance of taking a d-ring to the head is a priority
I always figured uphill gets right of way (Same as mountain biking) as its much more difficult to start from stop going up vs down. However theres always someone (in mountain biking called a Strava**hole - someone who is trying to set a time record) who wont stop even if its for a very short...
Lots of great suggestions here, one I havent seen yet is if you have to stay in your vehicle; clear your exhaust exit. You can stay warm inside the rig with the heat on but carbon monoxide kills.
