    1958 FC-170

Here is some information on the slam re-8 bags I chose to use. Internal bump stops are a great feature on air bags when space is limited .

    1958 FC-170

It is set up to drive with zero air if it has to. The firestone and slam air bags have the bump stops built into the insides. The same length arms are for maintaining pinion angle as the suspension cycles. It isn’t planned to be a rock crawler just comfortable on dirt roads and mild two...

    1958 FC-170

The firestones had 5 inches of travel shown in the pictures . The new slam bags have close to 10 inches of travel

    1958 FC-170

Changed from the Firestone bags to slam specialties ss-8 for more load capacity.

    1958 FC-170

It is still in progress , just now with cushy 4 link from and rear with air ride and bilstein 5100 shocks.

    1958 FC-170

Well call me nuts but parallel 4 link front and rear with air bags sounded like a good idea to add to the FC build up. It has to ride better than the 9 leaf front and 11 leaf rear packs . 2'' square tubing with 0.25 wall 36" long should hold up to about anything. Grease able poly...

A nice bonus of the virus shut down... lots of time to work in the shop. A major leap in progress.

    Betsy, my 1959 Jeep FC-170

A sad up date to your build. I will say the rust repair on these cabs can take an extensive amount of time but well worth it in the end. I hope betsy moved onto a good home.

    1958 FC-170

Setting up the battery isolator and dump bed solenoid. (no mike the LS isn't going in the FC-170) Also working on the harness and since the project wasn't hard enough I went with the all black wiring harness. Heat, a/c, lots of extra lights (relays), radio, dual batteries and winches and...

Working on fitting the lights so I have a target for the wiring. And to try and find all the trim I took off it 4 years ago

    M715 Adventure Rig

I pulled my hydro boost out of a wrecked duramax. Some 2500 and 3500 gas trucks have hydro boost as well.

    M715 Adventure Rig

Just grab a hydro boost from the junk yard. Mine was only $30 including the master cylinder. As for the front drive line angle unless you are using 4x4 on the road at speed a little steeper angle shouldn't hurt, or just do what chevy did for decades and use the double cardon joint. The...

    1958 FC-170

Slow but still progress. A little more bumper work with working on an idea to bring it around the corners of the cab. It will have a chamfer instead of the sharp corner to better follow the curve of the cab. I finally decided where I can fit the fuse panel so the wiring can get done also.

    1958 FC-170

It continues with a little front bumper progress and a few holes for lights, winch cable and dual 2.5 receiver mounts/recovery points.

What to do if you punch a hole in your fuel tank miles from nowhere

All good ideas in this thread. But I still prefer to have two tanks on a vehicle. Build them out of 1/8 inch plate with shut off valves and then travel the off road with little worry.

    Cutting down road noise....

Just add 6 gallons of lizard skin and that should keep it quiet. (i did it on my project in my build thread and it made a huge difference) :sunglasses: Be careful with truck bed liners inside a cab as they off gas and those fumes aren't good for anyone.
