I've been noticing that my feet are starting to swell when I make long drives like the one I just did. I have a bad habit of driving "gumball style" I select a destination and drive there in the fastest amount of time possible. I'm talking multi day 15 to 18 hour driving stints only interrupted...
You sure can, if I had the space I would store them under the rack like the front runner table set up, but my rack has about .5 inch clearance from the roof.
This is the new style, the holes are a lot smaller than on my older ones. I secure them to the rack with the roof rack tie down loops, I have a recovery box that i put on top of the Sand Rails and secure it using the tie down loops, the loops also keep the box from moving side to side.
You don't really need all that, the weight of the vehicle and the grit from the sand or mud provide all the traction you need. And because they are metal, you can spin on them and only put really funky swirl marks on them. Honestly about 90% of the use they get is in roles other than for getting...
You can use them either way really, and they are slick in snow, I've actually slid off the side in off camber and even on straights. One time in sub zero temps my tires froze to them and I couldn't move, took me a sec to figure out what was going on. A little gas took care of the problem, but it...
Has anyone used this site? caltopo.com I use it extensively for my driving ,biking, paddling and hiking trips. Works on handhelds as well. I use it for trip planning. Only bad thing is you need to be linked in to the net for it to work. But I love it for looking at terrain and getting an idea...
I have a Bestop, I like both, but the convenience and security of the shell wins out for me. Ironically the Bestop is better sealed than the shell. My MPG's were the same with either. But the shell weighs in at 162.6lbs over the Bestop. However if I opted for the Bestop full time, I would've had...
My original set I got from a a place that no longer exist. I did buy a set more recently from OKoffRoad. Once upon a time they cost $160 now they are $245, why I don't know, because they are nearly identical to my old ones.
I'm old school, I like simple aluminum sand ladders. They have multiple uses, I 've used them as work benches, tables, a shower floor, as a walk way from vehicle to vehicle, working surface to repair hubs and even as a stretcher once. But the most important thing about them, they are easy to...
I used Yakima on my Honda Element with kayaks and bikes without any problems and on a 2wd Tacoma, and on a Vanagon, and on a tundra. But for mounting on the cap on a Tacoma, with the capability they have off road, they are a definite no go. I tried and failed to make these work, they just will...
Well, I do know hes basically a very skilled guy that made his own rack for his personal use, people liked it and asked for one, he subsequently went into production. Hes not a huge operation. Try sending him an email. Maybe you can be the first Nissan guy. Just be patient, the guy is not...
That sounds about right. I didn't even know this cave stuff was a thing. That place is insane, you walk trough a cave entrance, past some display mock ups of old moonshine operations, you stay in the mine shaft walking along some interesting rock formations. You walk past some springs and cool...
First thing you have to ask yourself, and be honest here, I'm I getting it for looks of for actually putting stuff on it to go into remote far away places?
If you answered mostly for looks, go with the Yakima rail set up and be happy.
If you answered for actually putting stuff on it to go into...
Cumberland Caves, S of Nashville TN, I think they call it the blue grass underground lol. The caves were used to mine saltpeter during the civil war, then for moonshine production during prohibition, now it's the most unique place to sit in on a performance.
