Took two weekends ago on the Georgia Traverse. LC60 backlit by our campfire with the Wrangler to the left. Fire wasn't all that big but the 30 sec exposure time made it look like we had an inferno raging.

Located on a horseshoe bend on Sumac Creek. We were looking to set up at Hickey Gap (we approached from the West coming off 411) but after a quick drive by we saw that although there...
Check back in a bit and I'll try to have my route and/or campsites (coordinates) posted. Nashville has a great spot to drop in at the top of the larger loop. Head east from there. The further east you go the less pavement and more hikes and things to do. West is more on road.
Thankfully it didn't. Made it a little harder to start a fire at night but other than that it was a really good trip. Highly recommend the Gaia app with the Traverse downloaded bc signal is next to nil in most places. Found two cool campsites as well.
Was looking to head out to the National Seashore this Friday-Sunday off the coast of NC but Florence kinda wrecked those plans and the ferry that transports to the barrier islands (only way, no bridges) isn't running due to damage. Changing up plans and going to do a section of the GT. Prolly...
Me and two other rigs are going out to the National Seashore off southeastern NC for a couple of days of riding and hanging out. Not sure how hard that area got hit and affected by Florence though.
Freeman Park is a beach I've camped on plenty of times. Fun.
This is the best video that everyone should watch if it's your first time trying to get to the trail head. Like it says in the video, if you miss the turn you're gonna waste 20 mins of your time to try to get it a second time round.
Nah, not that I know of. The closest to Hurricane in NC is over 2 hrs away and then I thought about the ones in TN I know about but the closest is just shy of 3 1/2hrs.
As always, it is better to hit a trail with another vehicle when possible. I wouldn't worry about running Hurricane stock unless it's after a large rain event. I've done it a few times in my stock JK and didn't have a problem. One part was mildy difficult but no sweat overall.
I don't know of anything other than the Jeep Jamboree at Uwharrie in October. There should be an Overland Bound Expo East in the Fall too. They just had their West Expo about a week ago. The East Expo will be in Asheville.
I live in Charlotte and am starting to accumulate trip ideas and gear as...
Corolla, NC OBX doesn't charge. Driving on the beach is the only way some locals can get to their houses. I've seen people out there for the day with shade tents, chairs, fishing poles, coolers, dogs, etc. set up but I never saw any overnight tents/rtt. Nor did I ever see fires (but it was...
I too did Hurricane Creek over the weekend. Not difficult at all. Would recommend for someone who has never been wheelin before. Wasn't daunting at any point or cause any need for doubt or to turn around. Maybe two spots could be deemed technical.
I'd go back after a hard rain or snowfall which...
Right it's definitely limited when in Wi-Fi mode vs RC. It's like browsing on your phone using wifi or you data plan - one is going to work in more places than your home wifi connection.
But I don't know what more can be said on the Mavic. It's super compact compared to the Phantoms but big...
