When I’m not carrying my roof top tent and traveling with the Gazelle I honestly just strap it down in its bag on my rack and have had no issues over the couple of years I have had it and the many trips that I have taken it on.

That is the route I ended up taking. A Yakima SkyBox 12 Carbonite was delivered a couple of weeks ago. My plan is tent and chairs up in the Skybox and the other stuff under the tonneau cover.

Tent is in great shape. Only used twice. Great for larger family. We set up cots in the annex and it will easily sleep five adults in that configuration. Cots are also for sale if interested. Comes with custom Tuff Stuff LED kit. $1,750 OBO.
