Nice! I use 2001 xj for my travels, the boxy little brother if you will. Not planning on doing many upgrades as I am already finding the size limitations of these rigs. I know I could build it to do anything with the aftermarket support but its 1400 miles to Telluride CO for us and when the...
Lost track of how many of these trucks my family has had, just my 2 cents... I would make sure the tires are at least a good AT, maybe the rancho shocks upgrade if you don't already have and a camper shell and I think you would find yourself more capable then you think. I currently have a 01...
Michael- I have know idea why I wrote David instead of Michael.... Think the brain was getting foggy after long cold day. I just saw the emblems coming soon @store and saw the vid. Bummer about first run, looking forward ordering one!
Cheers..
@Mike
Welcome! I am a big fan of the Vermont Overland Trophy site, have you been to any of their events? Hate to say this but my competitive nature has me planning around and for attending a trophy event. Love the idea of mixing the localvore culture along with some over landing competition.
Hey David...
Thanks for the stickers, I don't do the Facebook thing so glad to see the forum rocking along. Saw where there are "overland bound" badges what's the deal with those? Being Mini Cooper folks as well we are all about our badges. Would love to support "OB" in the Midwest if you got...
VERY nice rovers! :-) The thing I love about Overland Bound is that it is welcoming to all sorts of off-road rigs. I love my Discovery 4 and Defenders, but sometimes I feel a bit weird because I don’t like some of the stereotypes about rover people, etc. Plus, I always feel out of place among...
After several years of having to learn how to eat and drink well backpacking/kayaking, I wanted to start a thread on overland cooking/bartending! Like our host we like beer and other beverages in camp as well as good food. If you got a good recipe for food or drink please share!
One of our...
@Michael-'01 xj Cherokee 4.0
@Wadle5- I have had as many Cherokees as I have Toyotas and not found one to be more reliable than the other, of course '01 is as new as I have had of either brand and never had a Grand Cherokee. Never had a really nice rover such as David's but I would give that a...
Thought since everyone here seems to be using their names instead of a "handle" I would as well, the artist formally known as iubootgater is actually Wilson. Pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Skid plates, ECT. More stumps then rocks in this neck of woods. Thank you for the list, still trying to figure out the sustainability of a Cherokee for this new found passion.
We have always been avid campers, paddlers and tailgaters. Believe it or not, been using a MINI Countryman...
First upgrade? My biggest concern at this point after getting the mechanicals sorted, I.e. The reliability factors, is making sure the suspension can handle the weight. My recovery kit is solid, hi-lift jack, straps ect. Was thinking of going a couple inches lift for articulation and to help...
New to the site, well trolling for a few weeks but decided to get onboard.
Do allot of boating and paddling and just recently got a "over landing" rig for the first time in several years. Got a low mile '01 jeep XJ ripe for some lift and outfitting. Love the land cruiser rig so well...
