Hello,
Hopefully this link works properly, we explored some beautiful new camp sites off the forestry trunk road (Highway 40) in Alberta from Cochrane up towards Nordegg. The pins are roughly where we camped, some further exploring required ;)
Tons of old logging trails and designated off road...
Just did 5 days on the trunk road between Cochrane and Nordegg last week. Lucky to call this place home! If you are down this way let me know if you want to explore together :)
Nice Power Wagon too.
Vehicle (weight) would be a factor too. Xpsi on a 2 door jeep is different than on a 4runner which is different than a full size.
Probably more beneficial if people post their aired down pressure compared to manufacturers recommended pressure, or at least what vehicle it is.
Dad had a cracked rib and an ankle that bugged him for a long time after, but ultimately we were fortunate it wasn't worse. Watch out for loose gravel on the highway in that area, we saw a car on its roof too. They do a lot of chip-seal repairs and then every now and then put gravel just for...
My dad and I rode bikes up that way a couple years back at the end of August. Top of the World and Denali highways were both dry and an easy ride, Denali was rougher so probably slower going by 4 wheels. If wet I'd imagine things would be VERY different.
Regarding weather, we had a crash and...
Looking at the Jeep pics here my first thought was it would look good to replace the trail rated badge. Low key until someone actually looked at it close :)
So I downloaded it but soon after canceled my subscription. Google maps seems to recognize more "back roads" than this app. Maybe I didn't figure out an effective way of plotting routes, I've got a month to try it out but first impressions are low...
I forgot to or wasn't able to plug my 6.7 Powerstroke in around -40 a few times. Wasn't pretty but started first try. I don't think I ever had to with my 6.7 Cummins but it was drama free when plugged in down to about -30C. Unless travel to Alaska is planned for winter this wouldn't be an...
I had one way back that I mounted on one of my old 4x4s because, well, all the cool 4x4s have one. I knew how it worked, but found out when we actually needed to use it I didn't have a clue how to use it properly (or safely).
My point is make sure you actually know how to use the equipment you...
The emissions equipment can easily be removed and where I'm from I never had any concerns with doing so to my 6.7 Ford, however boarder crossings might cause you a problem there. My 6.7 Superduty was quite reliable and got excellent fuel economy with a 500hp tune once all that junk was removed...
Hey, I was snooping around looking to replace one of my missing Backroad Map Books and on their website I found links to their phone app Backroad Navigator. From what I can tell it's $1 per month per province so I would pay $24 per year for Alberta and BC. I like their map books and the app...
Hi Ducke, I'm new here from Canada too!
Most people laughed at how goofy my canopy set up looked on my Superduty but I highly recommend it for how functional it was! I had a Leer midrise canopy with vented "windoors" and a Kargomaster canopy rack. The added hight of the midrise was nice for...
Hey
New to the forum and just ordered my membership also, member 6611.
I live near Calgary, Alberta, just east of the Rocky Mountains. I used to do a lot of wheeling and had a 2nd gen Toyota Hilux Surf diesel, a 1st gen Toyota 4runner and a Nissan Xterra before I started driving full size...
I have two cast iron pans that I never wash, I just wipe out with paper towel or sometimes scrape with a stick or scrub with a leather glove ;)
This might change but for now I have a kitchen bin that carry them in on the side at one end. I have a camp fire grate with fold up legs that I set at...
