Will do. Here's a more complete write-up with link to GPS file: https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/threads/vermont-puppy-dog-trial-and-stratton-arlington-rd.6724/
It also describes the camping option we used.
Quite high. :) Would be lots of fun. If we have a MA-based crew, we may want to start South and work North. Are you thinking day trip (probably easier) or adding some camping (could be an tack-on for those interested?)?
I am headed up to owners day at Equinox in a few weeks and might get...
Thanks. I should post up a link on the routes forum, I guess? That way people on OB can find it. I'll try to remember to do that later in the week. vtrover is up in that area and expressed interest in checking the trail out too.
Was that the nice hopped up green Disco? I have a pic of that one, but can't recall which town. I saw at least one other, but don't recall the details.
I'd love to hear what you and the other locals do for roads/trails in that area. The Stratton-Arlington road was great.
So as not to clog this, I posted about the Puppy Dog Trial here: https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/threads/puppy-dog-trail-and-vermont-greens.6561/. It is definitely worthy.
Went on a weekend camping adventure last weekend covering a bunch of the Puppy Dog Trail - a dirt road trail put together for dual use (?) BMWs that runs the length of Vermont, plus some forest roads. Terrain/views included mud, snow, rivers, fallen rocks, interesting bridges, horse & buggy...
Its a route running the entire length of VT that was put together by the BMW bike club and intended to be as much dirt as possible (for dual use bikes, I guess). Check it out: http://www.vtbmwmov.org/rides/ I'll let you gents know if the parts we have time for would be worthy of a group excursion.
I am not sure that I am going to make it. Crazy week and I want to work on getting ready to drive part of the Puppy Dog Trail and camp this weekend. At some point!
This is a great way to go from limited experience to having a sense what you're doing in a very short amount of time. My wife absolutely loved it (she drove more than I did!) and wants to go back to learn about winching. Win.
