@mbwesner I was thinking of adding one of those to my WJ. One for protection from flying objects but to also store things on. I though it would work to hold some gear as well and maybe some pouches on the passenger compartment side for my girls to store stuff. What brand did you go with?
Well looks like a buddy's nephew who is taking welding in school is going to weld my rack extension up this weekend. Which means I can get it painted, put together and get my ARB awning finally mounted. While I am out there I may work on finally installing my CB as well. Where are you WJ...
Absolutely. I will start looking into distances and travel times etc... while I'm in my last couple weeks of lay off. That way we will have some info together and can meet up to go over it and plan something.
After reading @ShawnR's post about sockets I figured a good thread to start would be one on what tools at a minimum should someone carry in their rig. This would be a good place for newer people to come and get an idea on what to carry.
Right now I carry:
Screwdrivers
Wire stripper/crimper...
I think @ShawnR and I are planning on making quite a few trips together. Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana @jordanbrooks, Missouri. We were talking about going different places and possibly working on the Jeep Badge of Honor.
My thought was to do something like this from a guys build on jeep forum. Start at post 5 for the rocker mod. Either that or cough up the cash for new rockersto get put in then eventually put sliders on it.
So while talking rigs today I took a look at my rockers and it looks like they maybe starting to rust through. If this is the case I am thinking about cutting them out completely and welding some 2x6 rectangular steel in their place. Taking care of the rocker issue, strengthening the subframe...
Man I need to get some stickers on my jeep lol Yours make mine look so plain. Had a great day today. Glad the kids got along and look forward to future get togethers and getting some trips under our tires. Looks like a homemade air dam for the rack is in order.
I bought the steel to extend my rack and add awning mounts as well as stripped the rack down to the bare minimum. Now I have to wait for my buddy to do some welding and decide what I'm going to do for a floor.
