My new account that I plan to use for all outdoor/overlanding stuff is: @4low_nc
Decided to start it after getting my personalized veteran license plate with the same (4low).
Worked out great over last weekend at the Appalachian Rendezvous. I was really happy with how solid it was while off-roading with a full cooler as well.
Here are a few additional pics that might help. In the last pic in my original post, you can see how it is snapped in place inside the Jeep. This first pic shows the snap on the upper, rear bow a little better. Where the snaps are installed, the fabric is doubled and a nylon web strap is...
So without a roof rack, or a way to mount an awning on my Jeep since I have a soft top, I always felt like an outsider, rather than an Overlander. :disrelieved: Well not anymore!!! :grimacing:
I had been engineering a way to build an awning that was light weight, and could mount to the soft top...
I haven't had a chance to really use it yet, so I'll have to report back after I go to the Appalachian Rendezvous in a couple weeks. I don't anticipate any issues with the main platform, but now that it's all together, I'm a little worried about the wood in the center, holding the rail for the...
Thanks. My plan was to provide the functionality I needed, and keep it minimal as far as the build. So far, I think it worked out well. I'm sure I'll make changes along the way, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
So here is the "finished" product. I used the quotes on "finished" as just like a Jeep, you're never really done with the mods. Once I had it installed and started to think about it, I'm already contemplating mounting my 2000W power inverter like where it is in the pics, then running cables...
Thanks Ben.
Here is the update for this weekend. I was able to get the slide out table built and installed, got the anchors installed, and then focused on sanding, priming, and painting. I got the entire base completed, just need to work on the shelf and table and then I'm done. The anchor...
I manage data centers, and these are actually from retired Sun server equipment. They are manufactured by a company called Slide King. I really like them because they lock in both the in and out positions. Capacity/weight wise, these should be sufficient for my cooler, but I still need to do...
I've been trying to figure out a design for this for a while. I originally wanted two large drawers on the bottom, a slide out shelf for my cooler, and a slide out table. However, with my vehicle being a 2 door JK, I need all of the space I can get for the rest of my gear. My compromise was a...
Thanks for posting this. I too didn't have the funds or the need for a fridge in my vehicle, and had been researching options for quite a while and watching reviews. I was between this one, and the Lifetime and ended up going with the Lifetime. It has worked out great, and I'll probably post...
Hey folks. Every now and then I come across some gear that I am really impressed with, so here is my basic review of the GSI Outdoors Glacier French Press.
I received this as a Christmas present from my daughter just this past year. Previously, I was using a small, glass carafe french press...
Make sure you grab the footprint for the Kingdom 6 if you do go that route. They sell them separately, and it really makes a big difference with this tent as far as floor protection, and keeping it dry.
I have the REI Kingdom 6 and absolutely love it!
The zip down wall in the middle works great when I camp with my 22 year old daughter and we both want privacy. We set up cots on both sides have plenty of room for personal belongings, changing, etc. It has doors on both ends so we don't even...
Yikes! That's crazy. For the most part alcohol is prohibited in the campgrounds that I go to that are fairly close. Not that people don't still enjoy a beer by the fire in the evening, but enforcement of the rule for folks that are out of control seems to be fairly well in order. Primitive...
Hey everyone. I'm posting this based on an experience just this weekend, and I'm curious about your thoughts.
Campground neighbors. For the most part, I really don't have bad experiences with my campground neighbors. Most folks are friendly, respectful and want to have a good time and...
Here are a few of my '15 Rubicon from my camping trip this weekend at Uwharrie National Forest, Badin Lake Campground.
Some great looking rigs in this thread, hope to see you out on the trail some day!
