my wife and I decided to try mounting our RRT on a small off road trailer for the less aggressive trails trips. I sketched out some plans and bought the needed steel yesterday. Today I got the basic frame welded together. I have notice a lot of people are using the Timbren axles. I found...
We head out for a lot of weekend trips. Load up Friday night after work, come home Sunday afternoon and we don't really need a shower. Any longer than that and the trail dust starts to build up so a shower is nice. We bought one the Ecotemp L5 tankless water heaters and are happy with it. It...
Getting up a 2am to pee is a bummer but I agree with the tree house comments. Plus quick setup and tear down. I have thought of mounting ours on a trailer but we get into tight spots that can't be backed out of.
Thanks Steve but your link comes up as an error. My fear is, they will announce it and I won't see the thread for a few days. I want to send my money in now :)
My wife and I watched the YouTube video for the 2016 trip and it brought back fond memories. What a great time we had and we want to get our names in, spot reserved as soon as possible for the 2017 rally. If there has been any threads or posts or emails sent out please let us know.
Special...
This is a cool thread. I am at the other end of your endeavors. I love watching overland videos on YouTube, that is how I found Michael. if you upload your work please provide links.
I want to make mine into a key chain. I am surprised no one makes a challenge coin key chain, at least I have looked and can't find one. I might machine a ring or take it to a jeweler and see if they have an ideas.
I have a question for those of you who know this stuff. From what I can gather in my research, CBs do not communicate the same distances as HAM (take repeaters out of this question). Is this because HAM radios are allowed to operate at a higher wattage? IE; will an 85 watt HAM transmit as far...
I know very little and if anyone wants to correct me it will not hurt my feelings, it just adds to my knowledge.
In the States CB broadcasts on AM while amateur radio (HAM) broadcasts on UHF/VHF, in Australia AM and UHF/VHF are considered CB.
All consumer radios have vastly different range...
You are just trying to justify and that is OK. Yea, tires are super important but this is a hobby/sport and we do some pretty dumb things and spend stupid amount of money to get OFF THE GRID! Spend the money and get the new tires and then tell us about the trip you took.
First I want to say thanks again Michael and Corrie for putting the trip together. After attending we could see an event that that size is as much work as planning a big wedding.
I know Michael is buried and video takes a long time to prepare. I have a bunch of photos that I would like to...
My wife and I are excited about going. There was mention of a "members only" thread for info. Does that exist? There was also talk about a questionar concerning rig size and sleeping arraignments. Plus an 8am, 9am, 10am departure times. Who do I contact for more info?
Ahh, very cool. That is a tougher route. We would have taken it last weekend but we were traveling alone and there was not a lot of traffic to help out. We came in from the north.
We were up there last weekend. Are we taking the northern route to bald mountian or will we be coming in on the eastern route? We camped at the trail head for the eastern route. Beautiful site next to the creek.
I have been running CBs for years. I just ordered a new radio but I can never seem to get the signal out very far. I can talk to my friends as we head down the trail but a soon as we get separated they are gone. I've set the SWR, have a good antenna. So??? Is there anyone in the Southern...
