I just got mine - so not sure yet. All the info I found on the web from users says they are better than a regular tent - but not perfect. They included a ‘blast shield’. Folks say it helped. For me the expectation isn’t that it’ll be as cool as an underground cave - but better. The heat...
Just pulled the trigger on the Shiftpod 2 It’s been a year of so since the last post on this thread. Do you all feel like it was a good choice a year on?
Hey All - has anyone used a Shiftpod? Any thoughts. I recently picked up a Gazelle T4 - but have yet to open the box. The Shiftpod is more expensive, but not massively. I’m interested as it seems like it could be a good emergency shelter with the extra insulation. I guess the Gazelle could...
Hey All, I’m looking to take my sister and niece on a first time trip somewhere in Northern California. I live near Santa Cruz - but would rather go away something very local (there are amazing spots in my back yard). What would you recommend. I’m thinking the Sierras would be the right area...
Do you have a more exact date? Also - will this work for a stock Tacoma TRD Off Road?
Never mind - that's one of the weeks I'm committed at work. I'd love to do this trip sometime.
Thanks for the input... This trip won't be officially overlanding - but more of a traditional camping situation. We'll already be into four days of primitive camping - so some amenities will be nice! Looking forward to the trip.
Hey All, wife and I are working the MotoAmerica races at Utah Motorsports Park in June then want to shoot down to Zion National Park. We’ve never been there, so we might need to be a little more touristy. Any recommendations for camping and sights?
I just went to China Camp in Los Padres. It's about 2 hours from Santa Cruz. It's a small primitive site. 10-mile dirt road to get there that gets dicey in the rain. Pretty remote.
Agreed. The Rightline doesn't have a bottom, so you don't need to remove everything to set up. With the platform, I built I have storage underneath. Its a compromise for sure, but much cheaper than at RTT. Maybe one day...
China Camp was OK. Remote area yet close to Monterrey / Carmel Valley is nice. Road is fine in 2wd when it's dry (although I always take the opportunity to work out my 4wd system). First night was great - solitude... 2nd night 6 young guy showed up. They were generally OK - just guys - but they...
Got a tent, Rightline (based on reviews). Fitted it to the truck and seems to go on well and quickly. It looks a little wonky because I didn't take my folding tonneau off. I also built a platform for sleeping. Yea, it's a low budget set up, but will get me out quickly and I'll build as I go. I'm...
