We camp with our Black Lab. She sleeps in the tent with us. We've had a couple Black Bears near our camp and she gave a good growl and bark. The bears stayed away and she gave us warning they were near. Without the dog we never would have known how close the bears were. I think dogs can be...
We have a little spot we go to every once in a while. Even on summer weekends, we never see ANYONE there. We have it all to ourselves. It’s a pretty rough road to get to so it kept people away. Now that all the established campgrounds are closed, we went to our spot this weekend. Looked...
Took the Patriot X1 up to Idyllwild. Towed from San Diego to the summit over a fairly rough road. Pretty good elevation gain over a rough dirt road. Trailer was probably 2500lbs. Got 19.3 miles per gallon the whole way. These little tanks are so awesome.
True. You really have to decide how you want to travel and camp first. Then decide which products are best for those needs. Your question is a little bit like, “Should I get a car or a motorcycle?”
I posted this on another thread. It's my opinion on trailers vs. vehicle builds. Keep in mind that I've been camping my whole life with just a car and a tent. So, of course, none of this is NEEDED. But we love camping. Everyone should be allowed to have that one thing they spend too much...
I just checked the 12v adapter from my Dometic CFX3 with my Goal Zero Yeti 500x. It's nice and snug and does not remove overly easily. You might be able to adjust the spring tension on the sides of the adapter. Or have Dometic send you another adapter.
Haven't been allowed to use it in the field with everything that's been going on. But I set it all up at home to simulate a camping experience. The Rockpanels 100w folding panel was putting out over 60w in sun and the Dometic was drawing about 35-45w in the shade set at 39 degrees. It had an...
So I have it now and have used it a bit to run the 12v Dometic fridge and some other items around the house. Paired it with a 100w Rockpals solar panel to see how well it charged.
And so, here's my update: IT'S AWESOME.
For what it's worth, hospitals will never give you blood without first doing their own type-test, regardless of what you put on your gear. And they can do the test very quickly. So don't stress out if you don't have your blood type labeled somewhere on your gear.
I agree. You don't need to spend a fortune on a trauma kit. Military trauma kits are expensive, but they are made to address gunshot wounds in remote areas where evacuation times are extended because you are in a war zone. Overlanders are unlikely to be in this situation. A tourniquet...
What influenced your decision to dump the Patriot's stove and get the Cook Partner? It seems like the stove which comes with the Patriot is well made. And I like the little warming/toasting tray beneath the burners. But I haven't received my trailer yet. So I'm just curious about your decision.
For the way we camp, the 'Pros' of a trailer far outweigh the 'Cons'.
Pros:
Trailers can be set up and ready to go at any minute
They can be pulled by either of our 4x4's, or anyone else's car who might want to go
The 4Runner can spend the majority of it's days living like a regular 4Runner...
Can anyone ID this bike rack? I think it's out of Australia. I don't think it would work for my 29" MTB on the front of my Patriot X1, but I'm interested in bike storage options for the X1. Bikes on the roof are not great, and having them on the back interferes with the spare tire carrier...
