Question for fellow OB Nissan 2nd Gen Xterra Owners - Rear suspension bottoming out FIX?

I run a set of the OME medium duty rear leafs and they have stopped the bottoming out issue. Once they settled, they give me about 1.50" of lift. I would suggest that you get them with the OME bushing kit and make sure the installer lubricates them per OME's instructions with the correct grease...

    BCBrian's 2015 Nissan Xterra PRO4X

While on the trip to the Eastern Sierra's, I noticed that my antenna mount was loose. After pulling the corner plastic loose at the top of Laurel Lakes trail and tightening the mount, it was loose again by the time we got to the bottom of the trail just 4 miles later. I used a ratchet strap to...

Blue Lakes and Indian Valley, CA

Thanks for the excellent write up! I have been exploring this area for many years and was first taken to Upper Blue Lake when I was a child. Last year I went up there in the X and ran a few trails in the area. The trail to the top of Hawkins Peak was a lot of fun, although not very hard and...

Alabama Hills + Bishop during Summer? How is it?

There was about 3 feet of snow covering a 30 - 40 foot span. We thought about trying to dig it out but since we were only 1/4 mile from the lake, we just walked in. You might get through by now but it is still worth it if you have to walk.

I'm a leaf on the wind...

Head west from Portland through the town of Forest Grove and into Tillamook State forest for some very cool trails and camping. Man this sounds like a great idea. Sub'd for updates.

Alabama Hills + Bishop during Summer? How is it?

I just returned from a 5 day trip to the area between Bridgeport and Bishop and it was pretty hot but we went wheeling every day. Sitting in my X with the AC on wasn't too bad. We camped near Bridgeport, which is about 60 miles N of where you are considering camping, and ran trails between there...

    2006 Xterra Off Road Build

Sounds like a great plan Brooke! I met maxterra at goneMoab and wheeled with him a few times. Not only is his bumper the best IMHO but he is a super nice guy. I am hoping to get one before too long. I have wheeled in the Reno area quite a few times.... you have some incredible trails there...

    BCBrian's 2015 Nissan Xterra PRO4X

Since I figured I needed an alignment after my Moab adventure, I finally got around to adjusting my coil overs for a little more height. Ever since I installed my old suspension from my Frontier on the X the passenger side front was about 3/8" lower than the drivers side, so I evened it out...

HiLift jack: is it really needed?

It may be overkill till you actually need it but depending on where you are, it just might be a life saver. I have only used mine a couple times in 7 years but each of those times it would have been impossible to free myself without it...

    Poker Flat Trail

While I have yet to wheel the Poker Flat trail, I organized and lead a run in the Lakes Basin last year. There are a bunch of really fun and scenic trails from mild to extreme in the area. My crew from ClubFrontier.org came up and camped for the weekend and had a blast. I am hoping to get back...

    Hello from the Bay Area

Welcome to OB. Nice pictures! I have wanted to run Deer Valley for many years as I consider Blue Lakes and Hope Valley my sacred ground. I have been camping up there for many decades and have wheeled trails and hiked in the area several times as well. I read about the work being done to...

    The open gate

I would not enter for 1 simple reason..... what if you need to come back the same way but the gate is now locked? Best to try and find another route or contact the responsible party before entering. Of course, if there is a Private Property sign I would never enter...

    goneMOAB 2017

Moab is a spectacular place to go off road and gone is a well run meet that I will attend over and over again. I encourage anyone who is interested to consider coming out next may and joining in on the fun. While it is a gathering of nissan enthusiasts, all rigs are welcome to attend. Here is a...

Porcupine Rim As you can see by the photo's, this trail is right on the edge of a cliff with about a 400' drop. Right behind the spotter above is the edge and if you went off the trail it would be certain death. Unfortunately, we had a major mechanical break down before we made it to the...
