Thanks. I'll get on that. Is that generally considered the best option? Part # or link? Are you on discoweb or landroverforums?

I do trails in 4-low even if I don't need it. Drops temps to ~190 for me

Interesting that the run cooler in town. I'm the exact opposite. Once I get some speed, temps drop huge. Could indicate I need a better fan eh? Even on hills it's usually always below 200. What fan/clutch are you running? You might have sold me on the swap w/ no water loss. Ugh swapping the...

Temps are always a battle for sure. Fresh after my rebuild, and replacing the whole cooling system, I was at 215-225. Very bummed. Turned out to be a stuck OEM 180 t-stat. Replaced that and I'm now 194-203. 203 at idle on a hot day or climbing grades. I'm pretty happy with that, but I keep...

Definitely check those piston heads. if any look steam cleaned, and the head gasket appeared fully intact, then there is a very good chance you have a crack in the cylinder bore. While in theory the top hats can fix the crack, I personally wouldn't spend the money to put top hats into a cracked...

    Overland Communication Overview

I have my heart set on that Yaesu 400. Love the remote display. Costs a pretty penny that's for sure. I suspect if you broadcast on GMRS frequencies, then you need to be licensed to use frequencies (but I have no idea). I can't imagine the type of radio you're using makes a difference.

Good call. Dakar black or beadlock? I really wanted the silver dakar's, but they weren't made anymore. I got the beadlocks (but I don't beadlock) and they're great. With shipping, about $900 for a set of 5 from the UK. Don't even get me started on what they would have cost here in the US...

Love a good hang! Do you have any belly / gearbox protection? I ordered TF868 (Terrafirma) but when I got it (from the UK), the instructions said TD5 only :( Shame. I can't find anything else on the market. Terrafirma apparently made TF868V8, but appears to no longer be made.

    Overland Communication Overview

I started playing with a free iPhone app. Took a sample test right away and scored 60%... from my understanding the test is pulled from a pool of 300 MC questions, so I think the quickest way to get up to snuff is to keep taking the sample tests until you've nailed all 300 q's by memory. Common...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Highly recommend going with the Blue Sea 7622 ML-ACR instead, and rigging up your own cables.

    Navigation help

Does GAIA let you plan a trip in advance via address-based waypoints and sync it to you iPhone/iPad? For example, I was wanting to add a waypoint (the address of the local ranger station), and then a waypoint for the camp area. But I could only figure out how to add a waypoint by dragging to a...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Making progress on my OBA and hot water system. Made this 2" recessed panel out of aluminum bar and aluminum square tube That panel has a garden hose thread quick connect (for input), an anderson power pole connector for remote water pump, and an air fitting (output) The idea is that I can hook...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Getting close to finishing an under-rack mounted solar panel slide for my discovery. I made it using aluminum angle, 80/20 t-slot, and glide track. Need to add a lock and route wires better. Bonus: doubles as an awning!

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

New here so I thought I'd post up a photo of my rig. In the past couple of weeks I've done rock sliders, rear bumper, winch, bush cables, wheel arches, and a ton more. Over the past year I've rebuild the whole truck from the ground up (engine rebuild, cooling system, you name it) Interior trim...

    Oregon Camping?

Check out Terwilliger hot springs, about 35 mins east of Eugene. Great camping spots, and a great 4x4 trail. The trail runs the opposite side of the lake where the main road and hot spring is.
