It appears he is set up for some overlanding a well. Cool to see!
That level of difficulty with the mud, giant rocks the size of a garage... etc... is something I would drive around. lol
I am a little chicken to try something like that.
Luckily in general a person has to go out of their way...
ZR2 Rock sliders are in!!!
They were waiting for me at the house yesterday when I got home from work. The guy I bought them from currently lives in Georgia and is in the military. He did the best job packaging these up that I have ever seen.
The rock sliders look brand new and have not a mark...
The new/used ZR2 Rock sliders are in the mail as of today. $200 for the sliders + $120 for shipping with insurance.
The new GM/OEM skid plates arrived today. It took them about a week to get them in the mail.
They seem solid enough for my needs. The front skid is a good bit thicker than the...
That is what I am leaning towards myself on down the road as funds get better. Super skids the rest of the way back. Shock skids, diff skid, and a tank skid (that one is a maybe).
EDIT:
I am pretty sure my Z71 and your ZR2 have the same T-case skids. A steel 10" or so skid that is only...
I just came across a vid on a guy not paying attention to a large rock in deep water in his Z71. Long story short... he crushed his transmission pan... didn’t crack... was able to drive home and fix it.
However, it was a different transmission than mine. I wonder if mine is made of the same...
I do love that guys channel. I watch it all the time. He has modded his truck (which does indeed look extremely awesome) sooo much that it keeps having major reliability issues when out on the trail. I have seen multiple steering alignment, performance, engine codes, and snapped axle vids off of...
That is a hard call to make. Stock gear ratio should be just fine. However, a lower gear ratio will make life easier on the vehicle (entire drive train minus the axle ends) during acceleration during normal driving and off road, but add a little stress when cruising on the hwy.
I would have to...
ZR2 Rock Sliders!!!
I just lucked out. I was 3rd in line putting in an offer for an asking price of $200 for new/used Chevy Colorado ZR2 rock sliders + what ever shipping ends up being. The other two dudes quit replying to the guys texts... so I got them. He sent pics and they look amazing. I...
I went with the Rust-Oleum Professional Grade this time. It is a 2 part epoxy that claims to 4x tougher than their regular grade. Takes a long time to cure.. but seems extra tough. Seem tougher than the stuff I used with Kevlar last time.
I will check them out. Thanks! I want to get the reverse lights bright enough so as to make backing up @ night in the woods easier. I plan to leave everything else stock for a long while. Though I may eventually do LED brake lights a long time from now. Last on the list.
I keep seeing deer on the way during my 52mi commute each way. Sooner or later... that will give me the excuse to get a bumper and high quality Diode dynamics LED headlight upgrade. Lol
I need to figure out how to get DD led reverse light upgrade as well... but without damage.
My wife caught...
That ended up being the deciding factor for who the winner of my money was. The guys I went with put shipping @ $16.37. Several of the others had a better price on their skids. However, their shipping was as high as $45 on one of the sites. No Way!
The wife is out of the house so... I am going to quickly make the purchase for the skid plates! lol
I have to hurry and make the purchase, dinner, and get the kids our the door to a girl scout meeting(Son is a boy scout but enjoys coming/no choice)
I just did some searching around @ several of...
Next likely upcoming mod...
SKID Plates
I have been weighing in on the subject in my mind and research for a while now. There are a lot of offerings out there in either Aluminum or Steel.
Long story short... I don't plan on rock crawling on the regular and don't need steel. I am going with...
