  • Santa - the ultimate Overlander! He changed Rudolph’s nose to amber for better visibility, fitted Prancer with a Warn winch and has MaxTrax recovery boards strapped to his sleigh. Happy Holidays!
I’m thankful for my family, friends and health; thankful to live on a continent with an incredible variety of landscapes to explore and wildlife to view; and thankful for the OB community who share their knowledge and humor. Happy Thanksgiving, all, including our friends on other continents!
Back at home after 87 nights of camping, 11,770 miles driven, 2000+ photos taken, countless miles hiked and one pair of hiking shoes destroyed. Time to plan the next adventure!
Last few days in the Eastern Sierra Nevada area. Days are shorter, mornings cooler and the mosquitoes (thankfully!) are less vicious.
I’ve bid farewell to Glacier National Park (sad face and a tear…) and am heading west. Great Basin and Lehman Cave tomorrow!
The trailer sewing projects are completed, gear is sorted and organized, and I’m working through the final “to do” checklist. Four days to departure!
The countdown to 2023 Mountain Madness is on! (Yep, I like to name my trips) Three months on the road - get that snow cleared pronto, Wyoming, Montana and California!
Camping for the third weekend in a row. I’m afraid I may have an addiction…to fresh air and great views!

Don’t we all and it’s great
Nice weekend of tent camping here in Maryland. Less than a month until a Colorado camping trip. My new MSR snowshoes may come in handy!
"Nobody ever tamed, domesticated, or scientifically bred us. But for at least three millennia, we have been engaged in a cumulative and ambitious race to modify and gain control of our environment. In the process, we have come close to domesticating ourselves."
