  • I’ve bid farewell to Glacier National Park (sad face and a tear…) and am heading west. Great Basin and Lehman Cave tomorrow!
The trailer sewing projects are completed, gear is sorted and organized, and I’m working through the final “to do” checklist. Four days to departure!
The countdown to 2023 Mountain Madness is on! (Yep, I like to name my trips) Three months on the road - get that snow cleared pronto, Wyoming, Montana and California!
Camping for the third weekend in a row. I’m afraid I may have an addiction…to fresh air and great views!

Don’t we all and it’s great
Nice weekend of tent camping here in Maryland. Less than a month until a Colorado camping trip. My new MSR snowshoes may come in handy!
"Nobody ever tamed, domesticated, or scientifically bred us. But for at least three millennia, we have been engaged in a cumulative and ambitious race to modify and gain control of our environment. In the process, we have come close to domesticating ourselves."

Reject the basic assumptions of civilization, especially the importance of material possessions.

Isn't the importance of material possessions kind of fundamental to survival? Kind of hard to sustain life without anything to hunt or farm with. When you start building tools from twigs, that demonstrates the importance of material possessions.

It’s a quote from Fight Club. Kind of goes along with the recent thread about overlanding dying and how newcomers may feel they have to buy a ton of gear to fit in. A cautionary statement about placing too much value on material possessions, allowing these items to determine our identity, self-worth and values, and engaging in hyper-consumerism for ego. Just my opinion and it’s worth what you pay for it, right?
Spent the afternoon booking an early June camping trip to RMNP. Goin’ old school - flying out, cheapest rental car, everything in the 65L pack except camera gear, no showers, all adventure!
Is it summer yet? Just booked the first part of my California stay (following WY, MT & NV).
Thanks. Can you send info about Gran Tetons trails etc? Appreciate it.

Hiking or driving? I’ve only hiked in the Park; I’ve done a few basic driving trails around Wyoming, such as the Green River Lakes area and Louis Lake Road.
