Check your caster angle. With that much lift it's easy to end up with too little caster, that will make it want to wander and feel twitchy. I don't exactly know what it's supposed to be for an XJ but guessing somewhere around 4-8 degrees. If you have adjustable control arms it's an easy...
I don't have too much info on this area since I haven't been out there in a long time. There's a bunch of little lakes, some hiking trails and some cool rock formations. Been so long since I've been out there (10-15 years) I couldn't even point you in the right direction to find any of it. It...
I have one of those and I really like it. I don't use it every time I'm out but if it's raining or I want some shade it's been great, also it's bigger than I was expecting it to be. They're very versatile since you can attach it to your vehicle like the ads show or to a couple of trees, I've...
You can access all of the dunes in a 4Runner, there are no areas that are sectioned off for different types of vehicles. There are trails that are narrow for dirt bikes and quads but you'll be able to figure that out once you're out there cruising around. While the whole area is open for...
The whole OHV area is open riding so there isn't much for campsites out in the dunes. You can camp out there, but everything is a trail so finding a good spot to set up where you won't have dirt bikes or SxS's driving through will be a challenge. Not saying you won't find a good spot you'll...
Yes, there is a gas station at the intersection of Pasco Kahlotus Rd. and Highway 12 in Pasco that has them, about 6.5 miles from the turn off to the dunes. But assuming you are taking the Pasco Kahlotus rd. from Palouse Falls to the dunes you would have to drive past the turn off to get there...
Wish I could make it but have other plans for Saturday afternoon. I was out there last weekend and the sand was nice from the recent wind and rain, but there was a trail clean up out there with a lot of rigs so the sand was pretty tracked up by the end of the day. We've had a bit of wind and...
Everyone will have there own opinion on what's going to be best but I just run a Galaxy tablet with Gaia. I forget what model it is but 10", wifi only with expandable storage. Going with a setup like that you can download the maps of the area you will be going to and view them with no service...
That's another reason I like to run the 285/75R18, you can fit them in factory spare location. Most measure 34.5-34.8" tall x 11.2" wide so the height of most 35's but hits the in between of a 12.5 and skinny 10.5. The draw back to that size is it's not real popular so not all brands make it.
Like all of your trips I'm interested, but not sure I can make it.... Jeep is currently in the garage getting some maintenance and a few upgrades for a trip at the end of January. If I have it put back together enough for your trip I'll let you know.
Thanks for the info, I'll measure my ammo can to see which one would fit best. Really though, for what it's doing the cheapy Amazon one will probably be what I end up with.
