    Tablet mounting ideas?

Thanks for the tip - haven't ever run across panavise in my searches. A 3rd Gen Tacoma mount is shipping!

    Importing a GPX -

I did see that, the issue was getting the .gpx from my mac to the android tablet. iCloud makes all that easy, but the snapdragon chip has the gps which the iPad doesn't. I ended up creating an email account, emailing the track to myself, logging in to the email on the tablet and then loading...

Flat, through window antennae cable? GMRS

I'm looking at the Midlands MTX275, have a Tacoma, but don't want to put a hole in my sheetmetal. I see the DX Engineering MGC50 flat cable, is that a usable product for the GMRS range at 15 watts?

    OB1 App use on iPad

Just started another thread, my Christmas statement earlier is still great for routes which I alone am using. When I want to join another group trip, getting the trip leaders .gpx into OB1 on my tablet is proving to be a bit of a challenge.

    Importing a GPX -

Is there a way to import a gpx in the resource/web map then sync to my tablet? I am joining a group on a route, have a gpx on my mac, can sync to my iPad but am having difficulty getting it to my Samsung tablet for use in OB1. If only the iPad had a GPS chip...then I would never need to...

    Be Aware: Overlanding is Exhausting

Ok, after reading your blog post, I see what you're getting at. My wife, it isn't as restful, she likes being home. Call it personality, enneagram, extrovert/introvert - we are different in that manner.

    Be Aware: Overlanding is Exhausting

Oh man - this made me laugh - which tells me it is most certainly in the Type 2 fun category! Hole in the Rock Rd amazing destinations, not so amazing washboards. I agree, being out is a renewing of the spirit. Granted I haven't ever done a month long trip, the longest has been 2 weeks. And...

    Overland Bound Member Cookbook

Laganophake, Roman lentil & red wine stew. Always the first night meal. Make at home, freeze in a tupperware the size of my pot, that way it's part of the ice in my cooler. It's pre-made, so doesn't matter if you get to camp late. My kids and wife loved it camping. Always good and easy for the...

    Best Nav app?

Agree with @SoCoRuss this is just the coolest, to be messaging the developer! As I was looking through the trails in the Maricopa Co area, I see you actually uploaded a couple here! Jerome to Williams and Outlaw Tr. Now I just need to work on getting out and making some tracks - increase that...

    Best Nav app?

I guess it comes down to use case. I am a forest service road camp person. I don't really have a desire to do the rubicon or some trails in Moab. I like to camp, and have an off road teardrop I pull. So, I'm looking for decent forest service roads and locations. I have both OB1 and OnX, and...

Gaia inreach mini 2 and iPad mini 6 … JUNK

Yep, did it. With Christmas gift cards, I purchased the Tab S6 Lite with the gps on the snapdragon chip. It is so much smoother for nav. Don't worry, no chance of me switching to the android ecosystem, but for nav and setup, man this thing is slick and a longer battery life than pairing my ipad...

    OB1 App use on iPad

So for Christmas I purchased a Samsung Tab S6 lite, just for the gps receiver in the snapdragon chip. As a fully committed fruit user (iCloud, mac, iPhone, ipad) that on board gps makes things work much better than pairing my ipad with my iPhone or Garmin inReach.

    OB1 App use on iPad

Agreed @Ubiety - iPad Air 3, wifi only. Works well, but needs the gps connection through another device, otherwise works iPad OS 15.7, OB1 11.11.2
