Inland NW: Meet Eat Greet and Sleep (McCroskey State Park)

Better than a meet and greet!
Not as cool as an overnight trip to the middle of nowhere.
Let\\\'s get together anyway!
Bring your rig in trail configuration for an overnight camping shakedown,
Cook using your kitchen or throw some food on the fire.
Pack your stuff - Unpack your stuff - Use your stuff - Figure out what stuff you forgot.

When we\\\'re done eating we can talk about where we want to go next.
Let\\\'s have a meeting and spend the night!
I\\\'ll have the ham set to 146.46 (KI7POE)

Hopefully we can all fit. We can double up in the sites to make more room.
I have some OB SWAG for the first two rigs to arrive.
I also have a door prize to give away!

  1. Hello Steve,
Think I could make this meet-up! So, count me in! I could use this as the start of my trip to the 2019 FourWheeler Overland Adventure! I sure would be great to meet in person, some of the great people on our site! Vance.

  2. Looks like a great chance to shake out the new equipment and make sure it works before launching into a heavy off highway scedule starting at the end of the month!

  3. Steve, trailer s/b done this next week, engine is almost out and s/b back from the shop and in by then. If not, then the truck and trailer will show up. Jim

  4. Any chance a group is travelling together on this from anywhere near the Coeur D’Alene area? If not, no big deal, just thought it would be fun.

  5. I was just on the Mccroskey park website. It says Skyline drive is usable by “sturdy off road vehicles” so to me that screams “LET’S GO!”. The latest Facebook post states as of a week ago that parts of skyline still have heavy snow but it should be long gone by May 4th-5th. The route is 18 miles long, which would be just about right for an short off road adventure. Let me know what you think Steve. Thanks.

    1. Saturday would be great depending on when everyone is planning on being there. If not, Sunday could work also. Think it just depends on when everyone will arrive at the site.

  6. I would prefer a Saturday run, but I’m amenable to either day. I will probably get there on Saturday, depending upon what time the ride is. If it’s early, I’ll head over after work, Friday.

  7. Okay folks this is getting close.
I just added a Location to the rally point:
    Mobil Station – 502 W Appleway Ave, Coeur D Alene, ID 83814
For anyone wanting to car pool down to McCroskey. I’ll be there ready to Roll at 8:30am
Also this should put us at the East end of the park a little before 10:00am

  8. I also just updated the Rally Point Location in the park too.
I moved it to the East end of Skyline Drive where We can gather together before starting the Trail Ride.

    1. Okay folks we’re getting close.
Please update your RSVP on the site.
Also, if you are thinking about traveling down there with me from the Mobil station I’d love a quick head count on that too.

      -Sandpoint Steve

  9. Has anyone run the entire Skyline drive lately? Yesterday, we snowheeled a few miles of 18″ rotten snow at only 3000ft trying our seasonal shortcut to town. I have no idea the exposure or elevation of this park, but Im still carrying winter driving gear.

  10. Updated my RSVP to Not Going and just thought I’d post here as well. Between the new job and short on funds I’ll have to pass this time around. Hope to make the next event!
