Rally Point Details:
The Maze District of Canyonlands, April 7th through 11th 2025. Three vehicles total
The least visited, remote, and rugged of the Canyonlands districts, the Maze offers awesome vistas and secluded travel for the adventurous. Bring lots of water, food, ability to repair your vehicle, and skills to show your self-reliance. On-X Trail ratings of 4-7, Doll House being the most difficult due to the trail and remote location. A total of 281 miles from fuel stop to fuel stop, bring extra.
Meet at the Pilot Fuel station, 585 E Main Street in Green River, UT at 9:30am PST, We leave at 10:00am
Day 1 April 7th: Green River to Panorama Point (81 miles)
Day 2 April 8th: Panorama Point to Maze Overlook/Green River (62 miles)
Day 3 April 9th: Maze Overlook/Green River to Dollhouse #3 (58 miles)
Day 4 April 10th: Dollhouse to Wash Camp (27 miles)
Day 5 April 11th: Wash Camp to Hanksville (53 miles)
Glen Canyon Recreation area requires an entrance pass: https://www.nps.gov/glca/planyourvisit/fees.htm
In designated camping sites, GCR limits camping to 8 people and 2 tents, campfires are allowed in fire rings. No fee or permit for shoreline camping. All campsites are required to have a portable toilet using NPS bags and deposited in the trash. Buring waste is prohibited.
Dispersed camping must be away from designated camping. Leave no trace camping is the rule. Limited to 12 people and 3 vehicles per site.
Canyonlands National Park requires camping reservations backcountry permit. https://www.recreation.gov/permits/4675315
The Maze District limits groups to 9 people with 3 vehicles. I can modify my reservation to accommodate up to 8 people and 3 vehicles total, but there is a fee charged of $35 per vehicle and $5 per person.
All trip members are to adhere to “Tread Lightly” principles, be good stewards, and respectful of all. The itinerary is a guide- trail conditions, weather, breakdowns, and acts of God may require diversions and adjustments. All are “at-will” participants and need to be able to be self-reliant in all aspects and can enter or exit the group at any time.
