Rally Point Details:
Stone Johnny is an 8.1 mile trail just north of Priest River, Idaho that rises from 2,353 feet to 4,534 feet as it approaches the Washington-Idaho border. The top of the mountain had a fire lookout tower from 1930 to 1969 when it was destroyed. As of 1/5/25 the route is shown as ungroomed, and authorized for over the snow travel (OST) per USFS map. We will meet at the Conoco station in Rathdrum (47.814772, -116.892987) at 8:45 and leave at 9:00am. We will travel north to Priest River, then head north 5 miles and turn left on Stone Johnny Lo road (USFS 984} at (48.24499, -116.91135). We will travel as far as the snow conditions allow. Bring recovery gear, air up/air down kits, and shovels. Bring a lunch and be prepared to have a fun time in the snow!
