Rally Point Details:
This is a no-host, come when you can event. The meetup is at the lake, although if you would like someone to accompany you up the last couple of miles after the turnoff from Highway 108 let me know and I'll try to arrange something. Leavitt Lake is located within the Bridgeport District of the Humboldt-Toyabe National Forest. There is a very poorly marked turnoff from Highway 108 onto NFS077, aka the Leavitt Jeep Road, about 3 miles to the east of Sonora Pass just before you get to Leavitt Creek (see gpx). We will try to camp on the knoll overlooking the lake from the north side (where we have camped before - marked on gpx map). While there are no formal activities currently planned there are numerous day trip opportunities nearby (Bodie, Kavanaugh Ridge, Mount Patterson, Nugent Cabin, etc.) in addition to hanging out and enjoying the lake and surrounding woods and trails. Stage 1 Fire restrictions are in effect (camp stoves only), but we may try to organize a potluck on Saturday night. Arrival and departure are pretty much whenever you want. Janet and I will likely get there on Thursday and stay over until Monday to avoid traffic.

- In my mind I am always at a remote high-elevation lake surrounded by snowcapped peaks.
