Do you like astronomy? Have you witnessed a solar eclipse? If you’re interested in seeing this rare celestial event, join this trip. An annular solar eclipse will be passing over Winnemucca, NV on Saturday morning, October 14. I am planning to depart from Auburn on Friday afternoon to drive up to a campsite south of Winnemucca, somewhere in BLM land in the Water Canyon Rec Area. I’ve never been there before so I don’t know what kinds of accommodations are there. I would recommend being 100% self sufficient, including water and toilet.

Since the eclipse ends in the late morning, I will be leaving to head back to CA around lunchtime.

I have a couple of telescopes with solar filters and a few pairs of solar eclipse-safe eyewear to share.
