Scenic trip over the Sierras on Hwy 108 to the ghost towns of Masonic, Bodie, and Aurora. We will be camping at 10,000 feet above Bodie as well on Copper Mountain with a stunning view of the eastern Sierras and Mono Lake. History and nature rolled into one trip.

PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY
The East Bay Tri-Valley Meet Up is heading up to Bodie Ghost town and Copper Mountain! Friday night we will be disperse camping near the old Masonic Mines, Saturday we will visit Bodie Ghost Town and walk the old streets full of stories and legends. After Bodie we will lunch in Aurora ghost town and then avoid the tourist route out and venture down Cottonwood Canyon past Mono Lake and head up to Copper Mountain where we will see some amazing views and camp in the shadows of the snowy Sierras. It’s a great family trip to learn about the history of the mines and see some of the best views California has to offer.
You MUST download the map for offline use and have a HAM radio. You don’t need a license to listen in.

Bodie/Copper Mountain Itinerary July 16-18th
FRIDAY July 16th
9AM caravan departure from McDonalds at 580E and Santa Rita in Pleasanton CA:

Top off tanks in Bridgeport CA, there’s only 2 gas stations

We will travel to just west of the Masonic town/mine site, check out the ruins, and camp closer to Bodie. There’s a cool mine to see along the route.
SATURDAY July 17th
Travel to Bodie Ghost Town Park. They treat it like a museum and it is $8 per person. From there we will drive to Aurora and lunch at the cemetery. Sounds fun huh! We will back track to Bodie and pass by Mono Lake as we head up to Copper Mountain.
SUNDAY July 18th
Copper Mountain has AMAZING views of the Sierras and Mono Lake, roll out when you want to
