Running the Trans America Trail (TAT) from WV to the OR coast

We are going to start the TAT in Ripley, WV. We will continue west until we connect to the "Shadow of the Rockies" in CO, and will follow it north. We will reconnect to the TAT in WY. From there we will continue west on the TAT into ID where we will branch off to the Pacific Ocean Spur, and take it to the OR coast. In the map above, I marked in black following the TAT route we'll be taking. This event will take up to four to five weeks to complete.

The first few posts on this thread will contain vehicle requirements, rules, and expectations of participants. Please read before signing-up for this event. By signing-up, it is implied you have read and agree to them.

Rally Point Details:

The TAT starts in Ripley, WV, so that's where we will be beginning our journey on Saturday, 12 June 2021. We will start the driver's meeting at 0900 at the Walmart Supercenter #1450 200 Academy Drive, Ripley, WV 25271 (off I-77 at exit 138). Suggest folks start arriving at 0830 to meet & greet, and get vehicles lined-up. At 0900 we will put out any final information, make sure we're all on the same radio frequency (radio checks), answer any questions, assign numbers, and will then head out. Before we meet at 0900, ensure your vehicles have been gassed-up, coolers are filled, tummies are filled, bladders are emptied, and you're ready to roll. We will not be stopping right after we roll-out to get gas.

  • End Point: Port Orford, OR, USA GPS Coordinates: 42.74566, -124.49733 Notes: This is where we will finish the TAT (OR coast). I can not predict exactly what day and time we will finish, but it should be NLT 31 July. I am figuring 4-5 weeks from start to finish.

This Rally Point location and route can be downloaded if the buttons are active. The “Launch Google Earth" option will allow you to review the location in 3D. Please keep in mind, actual terrain may vary greatly. This should be used for reference only.
