Rally Point Details:
Following a 26 miles fireroad ( one way ) into the Ishi Wilderness and onto the Mill Creek, we will spend one night at Black Rock Canyon; wintering grounds for Ishi and his people and the area for one of California's biggest herds of local deer.
We will be meeting in the parking lot of Holiday Market in Cottonwood CA for last minute provisions and topping off the fuel. We will then head down to Red Bluff where we will be traveling along HWY 36 to Paynes Creek where we will traveling on dirt roads from there. Be prepared for dispersed camping but if the camp ground at Black Rock has space availabe, outhouses are available.
We might could do some exploring in the area so making sure you have some extra fuel is advised. Roads are devloped but high clearance is recommended.
Looking forward to hanging around the campfire with you all and appreciating the beauty of this area.
