Would it be worth joining?

I've been a long time lurker here and debated whether joining OB would be beneficial. I have a stock 2019 Tacoma DCLB as my tow vehicle and a 15' Taxa Cricket trailer. Are there trips being done that my setup would be welcome on? Btw, this is my daily driver so I'd be avoiding any rock crawling.

Thanks!

Not only lots of trips you would benefit from, but the app, as well as meet and greets. Also there is a huge “members only forum as well.

@RubiRigo is also from the Bay Area and has been on multiple trips with me up here in Oregon, as well as many many trips throughout California.

As Mike has already written, there are so many things why it is worth becoming a member. And it is not just the things that are already there. No, many things are always being developed further, such as new features in the forum or the app.

Let me briefly summarize what brought me to OB:
Once the basic principle that it does not matter what kind of vehicle you drive. Yes, it has to be safe and capable of doing what you want to do, but everything else is irrelevant. This is something that bothers me here in Europe in many other communities, clubs or just talking to other overlanders: this eternal, this vehicle is better than that and you must have at least this and that etc. No, it's not like that, because it's about the (shared) experiences and the small and bigger adventures and not about the vehicle. It also doesn't matter whether someone drives around the world in an old compact car or in a fully equipped 4x4 with the family for camping at the weekend. I think that's great here!
Another point that has long been close to my heart is the environmentally conscious overlanding: leave it better than you found it, also a basic principle here at OB.

Those are just two (very significant) reasons that brought me here and what can I say, it was exactly the right decision to become an OB member and support this great community.

Another reason to become a member:
This is a privately owned forum. @Michael uses the memberships to pay for the cost of maintaining the servers, software, and everything else associated with running a web based forum as well as the App. OB1 has a lot of features and isn’t cheap to develop as well as host.

Another benefit is access to the Member Store. Members get discounts on products we actually use. @Corrie and her team are constantly looking for new products to add for OUR benefit.

Right now OB1 is in beta testing for the Expedition Tier which will add offline maps, navigation, and other features to OB1 (which will cost more, but will definitely be worth it, I know because I am part of the alpha test team so I get to see stuff before most.)

If you’re in the fence, it’s only a year subscription, if you don’t find you like or need the paid service, just don’t renew your subscription. But I haven’t ever heard of anyone wanting to cancel their membership.

I am glad I joined. The map locations for all the camping, trails, views is way better than hitting google for everything. And I mean the pictures shared as well of all the wonderful places that people are going is definitely a benefit as I'm living vicariously through them while deployed and missing home greatly.

I am not a team player. I run with scissors around the pool. I really enjoy being a member to this bulletin board. I have meet other members learned more than a couple of things been recognized by my badge. All in all worth the price of admission. The
Expo was a good time too.
