hello OB crew I have a few questions
1. I need a fuse block for my lighting and 10k winch what is the best one to handle all the load

2. I have a aftermarket sub and amp is there a way to wire it different then straight from the battery.

3. I am also looking at a dual battery setup and solar power charging system and need suggestions on what size panel and system to use

All this is on a 2012 tundra crew max

For #1 Spods fuse blocks are nice but you will pay for it. Amazon has a knock off called Apollo Intech. We like to use products from marine supply stores that way you know it can handle getting wet.

#2 Its been a couple decades since I've fooled with custom steros but i think they still run large systems from a secondary battety like a yellow top optima.

#3 We are working on that ourselves. Check out you tube and look up videos about living in a van, van dwelling things like that. Those guys come up with some good solutions for off grid power.

You can build your own solid dual battery system with a blue sea marine acr si automatic charging relay from amazon for $80 plus the appropriate breakers and cables. I got most of my stuff from the local Diesel repair shop since it’s all heavy duty and after I mocked up the cables they let me use their crimper for the battery cables. I zapped up a battery tray from angle iron and the whole deal was about $250 Plus the battery. There’s plenty of instruction on set ups using the blue sea acr for this on the internet. I’ve been using my setup for over a year problem free, and since I built it I now know how it works etc since I’m pretty electrically challenged. I’ve been lusting after the flexopower folding solar kit for awhile but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. The idea is that when parked in the shade you plug in the flexible panel and put it in the sun and it runs the fridge etc first and sends leftover power to the battery. It’s next on my list, the truck keeps everything going great and when off the deep cycle runs the fridge for 2-3 days in mild weather, but when it’s hot it needs a bit more juice to parked longer.

. My go-to video from Australia. Change to other parts but the concepts, logic are really well shown in one shot by off-road pros. There are others in series.

Thanks guy I will look into both products and if I have any questions is ok to pm you?
Absolutely, I think I found most of the information for my setup on ih8mud. I used 1ga for the cables because I happened to score enough for free, but is probably overkill and used 2 150a buss breakers, 1 for each battery so I can easily cut off everything for when I’m not using the deep cycle for the fridge etc. the best advice I got was to put the deep cycle on a smart charger after a trip because the trucks alternator will not fully charge the battery, (electrical stuff I don’t fully understand, but it’s true) and because batteries like to be stored fully charged and will last longer. There is some higher tech stuff out there that will allow the truck to fully charge the battery, but it is expensive and not necessary for my needs. I noticed that when I charge the battery on the smart charger before a trip I get significantly more time with the battery, sometimes an extra day if it’s not too hot out. Also plugging the fridge into the house and loading the fridge the night before gives me even more range. In the summer time when parked for a couple days though, a solar system like the flexopower would be nice. I don’t use a fuse block yet since I only have the fridge and winch on the second battery I just use an inline fuse that’s worked fine. If I add lights or something I’ll probably change that.

I purchased a full river FT1100-31 battery for my 17 Toyota Tacoma. A blue sea 6 circuit positive and negative fuse box. Also got a Bussman 100 amp resettable breaker. I ordered a Pelfreybilt battery tray and six fuse box holder. There not here yet. But am excited to get it all in. I am also looking to and a second battery. A bit smaller then switching my starting battery and make my the group 31 the aka coach battery. If you have any suggestions please let me know
