My brother signed me up for Overland Bound as a gift and I'm thrilled about joining. Neither my brother or myself have much real off road experience but we want to join in on the adventure. We're both in Southern California and looking to get started. I just bought a '94 Jeep Wrangler that looks off road ready. I'm looking to find out how to get started with local experienced Overlanders that can help shorten the off road learning curve. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Overland Bound...the YJ is a good platform for back country exploration. Post up some pictures of your ride.

Awesome! Thank you. I've driven off road but not anything challenging. I've gone to Azusa Canyon to drive in the water and run around in the dirt but nothing beyond that.

That's a good place to learn about your vehicle, but is mostly just mud and sand lots.
Theres a lot of trails here that are mostly fireroad but can be challenging when you drive the offshoots.
I prefer the longer trails, rather than the small parks.

Heya Larry, welcome to OB. Cool brother ya have! And I mentioned in another thread how you'd have no problem finding folks in SoCal, and there ya go! Five minutes later, ODog is stepping in. Excellent! You & your brother enjoy!
