When I purchased my first Tacoma a couple of months ago I had been driving a Mini Paceman for about 10 years. I obviously did not expect them to feel the same - they're pretty much polar opposites! - but I was surprised at the amount of accelerator lag and gear hunting I was experiencing. After doing some research, I discovered this was a common thing for most 3rd Gen Tacomas (mine is a 2023). I also discovered this thing called tuning. After watching a couple of YouTube videos, I decided to take the plunge and I'm getting my OTT tomorrow by Big Turtle Tuning. If things go as they should, there will be no more acceleration lag and no more gear hunting. I'll have a smoother acceleration experience, particularly under any sort of strain like towing or hill climbing, and a more responsive drive. I'll post back here a couple of weeks after I get the tune to share my experience.

If you're in the Eastern WA, Idaho Panhandle area, Issac from Big Turtle Tuning is going to be at the Cabela's in Post Falls on Saturday, 4/19. Call to make an appointment if you're interested.

4/20: UPDATE. This is now a different truck. Acceleration is greatly improved, particularly with the ECT enabled. The gear changes are far more consistent and smooth. I love it! Highly recommend, will update after a couple of weeks and the Off Road class I'm taking to report back on how this tune affects driving over/around low speed obstacles.
