Ham/GMRS Callsign
W9DRX
My plate is "BAT21" I'm a veteran, a patriot, and an aviator...this movie is a great representation of all of these.
Gene Hackman and Danny Glover. Give it a watch!
Buuuut that's not a ham/amateur radio vanity callsign. ;) Thank you for your service!

My vanity callsign is W9DRX because our vehicles follow a Guardians of the Galaxy theme, thus my forum username as well. My license plate is DRAX.

We are talking vanity amateur radio call signs, not vanity license plates…

I’m waiting until I make Extra before I apply for my vanity.

Yes, sorry...I was yelled at already. Didn't mean to intrude on you exclusive club.

I didn't consider it an intrusion, but found it interesting. I haven't seen the movie in a long time. I had forgotten the lead roles.

For me, my vanity license plate and call sign are one and the same.

I think a thread for plates would make a good topic as well.

K6ZWC My Father (K6ZWB) got his first ham licence in 1957 in highschool and some of his friends did as well. One of them was killed in a vehicle collision before I was born, I was named after him, and when Vanity callsigns became a thing my father was adamant that no one else should have his callsign either. Years ago before Vanity calls were as popular as they are now, I would get the occasional old-timer who would look at me and ask, "You don't look old enough to have that callsign."
