So I've wanted a cargo organizing cabinet, chest of drawers etc like many of you have built or bought for your rigs. My concern, I want to be able to remove the cabinets as needed for moving other items and rear cargo storage options. I am thinking of getting a chest of drawers, cabinet or old dresser off Craigslist or another Letgo type site that will fit my rear cargo area. It is about 43" between my wheel wells in my cargo area and I would like to have the chest be about 20" to 25" deep so I can mount D rings or I-hooks to the top to mount more cargo, ice chest or other items.

Has anyone done this before? Any drawbacks? I really don't care about aesthetics as much as function, so if I have to spray paint the furniture I will. I would mount the dresser to a wider piece of plywood on the base, so it has a solid footing and locations to bolt it to my current JKU cargo mounting locations.

Something like this is what I'm thinking, only a bit bigger and hopefully with larger and smaller drawers.

I'm sure if you find thw right size you could adapt it to work. My only worry would be the construction of the furniture you get. Not sure most stuff out there now a days will hold up to the abuse of going down trails.
