I planned a rally event trip to Zion National Park. I will be leaving Wednesday night the 30th after work getting up to the Grand Canyon finding a place to camp. Then the next morning will be continuing on to Zion have never seen either of these places would love to . all welcome looking forward to being off the grid with the OB family. Go to The Forum Rally Point events to RSVP or the event on the calendar and it should link you to that event so that you can RSVP for this trip. still plenty of time to make plans to go the more people the better. Also off-roading Trail runs in Nevada planned day and night to explore the beautiful landscape. Check rally event for current updates

We may be able to make this, we'll have a brand new baby by this time so I'll have to play it by ear until closer to the date

Dang I wish. I live in St george and have been wanting to meet with some other OB members for quite some time. Unfortunately i'll be out of the country on that weekend! A great place to camp is Smith Mesa!!! Astonishing views, no fees, and very little people!

Congratulations on the baby. That's why I'm putting it out this far in advance so people can make plans. If you get to go and bring the little one it'll be the first OB adventure .hope to see you out there again congratulations

Thanks! This will be baby #3. Our two boys are already pro adventurers, we're hoping to get their little sister started as soon as possible, so this timing looks pretty good. She'll be about 1mo old the time of this event. We may need to set up camp in the distance so middle of the night baby cries don't disturb the gang, hah!

Awesome!!! Many great spots along that road. If you turn off of highway 9, to head north on smith mesa road, it will go directly up the mesa. The road is in disrepair but is manageable . Once it levels out at the top it'll turn into a dirt road, and it'll be another mile and a half or so before you'll start to see the good campsites on the right side. The ones with the good views.

I hope these satellite images help. The road literally goes right to the edge of the mesa and that's where you'll wanna be :) enjoy!

I just hope more people decide to go so I don't have to make this trip by myself. it'll be my first Overlander trip with anybody from the group if people decide to tag-along . other than that I'm going regardless to see a view like that in the morning

As soon as the heat stabilizes a bit I can fix the leak in my transfer box and you can count me in.

I might be able to attend. How many days are you planning on staying in Zion? Do you have trails picked out?

Honestly I have no Trails picked out in Zion yet . I was waiting to see how many people even signed up for this trip , which I hope is a lot . then maybe discuss it with group on how many people want to run trails in Zion. I plan on leaving the Wednesday night at 5: 00 pm before Labor Day weekend , getting up to the Grand Canyon at night. Seeing the Grand Canyon on Thursday maybe hanging out at camp for a little while and then driving to Zion for the rest of the weekend and coming home Monday sometime , so 4 days in zion . The drop pin in Utah was given to me by another member who lives in Utah and said it is a fantastic spot with great views he wishes he could be there but he was going to be out of the country for this trip. I have never seen or been to either place this will be a first trip for me. I have a drop pin campsite picked out that I can give you on the maps near the Grand Canyon . The first drop pin in the Rally Point is in Flagstaff to refuel and meet anybody else that may be coming from different directions if not I can give the drop into the first campsite near the Grand Canyon to all meet up there also. If not set a course for the second dropping in the rally and it'll bring you right to us in Zion.
