Ok so ive been trying to find a truck bed rack for my titan. I don't and can't spent the $$$ for the top name ones but I've found a brand that should work. My question is...Does it matter that much about having a longer rack then a shorter one? The static weight for both sizes are the same. Only difference is the dynamic weight. For my truck, I have the 6'5 bed. The smaller rack is only right at 41 inches long and the other is 57. As for mounting items I will probably only mount my high lift and a couple tools. Most everything else will be in the bed of the truck. Theres almost $130 difference between the two and delivery options are better on the smaller one. Just wondered about yalls input and if anyone else has run a small rack like that on a full size truck. Thanks in advance.

I have a 52" rack on my Silverado with a 6'3" bed. It could be shorter, and in most cases, I wouldn't mind at all. Think about everything you plan to put up there now or in the future, and if it will fit, it will probably be fine.

I went cheap with a Vantech ladder rack for $127 and a cargo basket for another $130. Had to touch up the paint a bit on the basket, but otherwise everything works fine and doesn't look bad either. It's not very adjustable, but I only want it to do the one thing, and it does it.

Edit: I'm talking about a bed cap rack, which I now think you are not talking about lol. Still, if the shorter one does the job, I'd just go for that.

Yeah I just want to have my roof top up there and a couple items on the side. At the very most I may have 400-450lbs total in the tent at one time. Im 6'3 and 220, wife and kids make up the rest but only if i had them all in there. With the static weight of 800 i think ill be good. The tent I want to get is the 23Zero walkabout queen or possibly king. Weight on those are at 160 i believe.

Personally, I'm more about function than form. Of course, I don't want my rig to look like crap. But, if something looks a bit off but works great, I'd take that money I saved on just making it look better and spend it on other gear lol. Personal preference though.
