Trash Protocol in Bear Country

Several buddies and I are heading to NM and CO in a few weeks and I was wondering the proper way to deal with trash around bears.
The 2 SUVs have either a NBX GARB or Trasharoo, but those offer little protection, and seem like a good way to get the bears even closer to the campsite.

Do you guys who are in these areas all the time just zip line your trash bags into trees, or burn everything, or ?????

I can think of several options, but didn’t really want to play trial and error with bears or mildly expensive gear.

Thanks

There are black bears where we live and camp. We take a 5 gallon bucket with lid to hold all food related trash. That gets tied and pulled into the air. We use the trasharoo for hauling garbage out, not necessarily storing garbage during the trip. We also have heavy duty garbage bags to line the trasharoo to help prevent odors from building up that would probably attract animals.

Other than what was already said, you could set up a tent for just your mother in law, away from your tent, and use all food related trash as a mattress for her to sleep on. Probably hanging from a tree is a better idea.
