I'm planning a trip for the end of October, flexible on dates. I basically want to take my time and do what parts of the trail I can achieve with my relatively stock '17 Outback 3.6R with some good A/Ts. Most of the trail doesn't look too terrifying, but my question lies more with where to sleep. There are many locations along the way that are marked by the interactive map on Trans Wisconsin Trail Lots of great information there.

My question is more for the folks that have done the trail or parts of it. Are there many places to pull over and hammock? There's no real need for me to set up a campfire. I have become accustomed to simple meals and a simple setup that's quick to deploy and recover when it's time to go. I don't mind picking up OnX or Gaia to find local public lands but haven't done a lot of research on either of those two apps since they require purchasing for more detailed information. If that's an encouraged recommendation I would rather spend money on that than $180/night on hotels.

If you have any recommendations other than just the dispersed camping I'm up for suggestions. I'm hoping my daughter (14) wants to go with me, but it could be a solo event. I have a tendency to over-plan but would like to understand better before dashing into the woods. Thanks for any information anyone can provide.

I might have missed the window I was shooting for. Things come up family deaths, etc. I still want to do this trail so feel free to leave info if you have it, but maybe I'm looking at spring instead of fall.

That looks like an awesome trail!!! I haven't done the trail but I did live in Upper Michigan for a while. If you are doing it in the Spring, I would recommend late Spring/early Summer. Overnight temps can get a bit chilly in early Spring.

I will be in Wisconsin sometime after December 14 through the 21st. If you’re looking for another person to join you, I’m game!
